Rusty Myler @ Gunn Nissan, San Antonio TX

Our beloved David Burnette is no longer working with South Point Nissan, however he was gracious enough to ensure our Maxima Community could continue to receive OEM parts at great prices.

Rusty Myler is the parts director at Gunn Nissan in Texas. He's taken on the discounted Maxima.org service that Dave B can no longer provide.

I just made my first order with Rusty, and I have nothing but positive things to say. He's professional, courteous, and extremely responsive with returning phone calls and emails. And yes, his prices are as competitive as Dave's.

I highly recommend you giving him a call, just say you're from Maxima.org and used to order through Dave B, and I'm sure he'll be happy to take care of you.

My question is, how knowledeable is Rusty? With DaveB, you could talk out a problem and end up with a pretty solid part(s) recommendation that will solve the problem.

djfrestyl 11-23-2011 01:39 PM

Great question - one which I don't have an answer to. I'm sure we'll get that review when the situation arises.

RR5 11-23-2011 01:46 PM

On the other hand, DaveB would not recommend Rusty otherwise.

Good point

Just had a part priced and southpoint is still cheaper even with the .org "discount" at Gunn. FYI.

djfrestyl 12-05-2011 01:37 PM

Not for me...

Lovemyser 12-05-2011 01:38 PM

http://www.nissanpartsasap.com/

This place is cheaper. And they have exploded views. Which are NICE.

RR5 12-06-2011 01:22 AM

Thats a great looking site! Hello next parts order! I'll verify the price I get from Rusty against that site.

I called and spoke to the guys at Tri-Cities too, VERY nice, and knowledgeable, gave me the same discount that's on the website. Tricities was $10 cheaper on a $60 order so that's a pretty big difference.

That site did not even list the fuel pump. Unless that only is stocked as the whole assembly, pump/filter in one.. which is pricey. Sigh

New resource for parts

I had a really good experience this weekend with my Maxima finally getting fixed for the infamous p0507 throttle body issue. Rusty Myler gave me a nice discount on a refurbished Throttle Chamber ($140). He was very prompt and got me the part in one day.
Once I got the throttle plate I had to get it relearned. I got it done by Gillman Nissan of Fort Bend, Texas. They are located in Rosenberg Texas, outside Houston. I was talking to the Service/Parts Manager about getting the throttle body from Gunn Nissan because they gave us a discount of 20%, thanks to Dave B. I told him that he could do more business if he offered us the same discount. Well, he said that he would match that price if we talked to him and told him we're from the maxima.org.
So, if you need Nissan parts, call Brent Koenig at (800) 825-7923. His email address is bkoenig@gillmanauto.com. Just mention that Mr. Ortega with the blue 2003 Maxima sent you. ;)

If you are in the Houston area, his number is (281) 633-5544.
Also, Brent relearned my new throttle body for $54, not the usual $180 that others, like Sterling McCall, charge. He was super helpful and was very easy to work with. They did fix my car after struggling with it for 3 weeks after my mechanic touched the throttle body.

Still, I would rather call and speak with DaveB. I need the rear (bank 1) valve cover gasket for the 2004 Maxima.

Here is my update, I called and spoke to Rusty 29-Feb-2012 to order a camshaft sensor. I also had a couple of questions and Rusty was going to speak with one of the technicians at the dealer and call me back. I did the credit card number thing over the phone also.

1-Mar-2012 I sent Rusty an email to confirm my shipping address for the camshaft sensor. I got no reply. I also didn't get a call back regarding the few questions I had.

Haven't forgotten about that post Blackwind. Actually I feel dumb because today I received the camshaft sensor. Was shipped on Monday the 5th.

Well for what it's worth I've been dealing with Rusty since inception of this thread. Never had an issue.

He even sent out drivers to other local dealerships to pick up parts because he didn't have enough in stock, and then shipped them to me for when I needed them.

unrealii 03-14-2012 09:36 AM

I wish I could say that.

I have two phone calls and two emails from the past month which have gone unanswered. The prices he gave me were great, but when I tried to order, I just couldn't reach him.

Unlike DaveB, I know this isn't his primary role, so I have no expectations. I am glad this is working out for some of you, otherwise parts are overpriced.

FlipCpt45 03-24-2012 11:47 PM

ahh.. I miss DaveB!

felorojas14 04-05-2012 05:28 PM

Ive tried Rusty but his prices werent the best for me. Try Brent Koenig at Gillman Nissan 281-341-2277. His prices have always been the best now that DaveB is not around. And i shop around for quotes with any purchase. Hes a cool dude to deal with and always responds to messages.

Im glad you had great service at our place, let us know if you need anything else. From parts to service please give me or Brent a call.

I just wanted to throw in my .02 and give Andy Burt(Japandy) over @ Gillman Nissan some props! He gave me a GREAT price on a 350Z clutch setup, that I know for a fact that our beloved Dave B. couldn't match!! (I already checked before his departure). He is a great guy to talk to and a definite hands on guy, not just a parts chaser. He was helping to install an aftermarket exhaust on a customer's GTR when I made my first contact with him. He wanted to make sure the everything was installed right and tight the first time and there were no issue with fitment or sound quality. In fact he was very thorough about asking the right questions so he was sure that he was going to get me the exact parts I needed. We had a nice chat and his backround is definitely hardcore import!! In fact his screen name gives that away. In any event, I had a GREAT experience with him and will be dialing him up in the future for factory parts I need. I would recommend everyone at least giving him a shot. I bet he'll make it worth your while.....Thanks again Andy!

djfrestyl 06-18-2012 05:36 AM

Interesting.

Andy, I'll be giving you a call this morning.

joshmachine 05-23-2013 09:41 AM

I tried all these places- Rusty, Brent, nismoparts(california) and still cannot beat the prices i was quoted by ray at tri-cities nissan, Johnson City, TN. The shipping was ups and 12 dollars.

Rusty and brent took a while to even respond. By the time they did, I had already exchanged 3-4 emails with Ray.

Danny_Harris 08-19-2013 10:15 PM

My inquiry is, the way knowledgeable is Rusty? With Daveb, you could talk out an issue and wind up with a pretty strong part suggestion that will take care of the issue.
