Tar/asphalton my quater panels

I recently got some tar/asphalt on my lower panels. Any tips for removing this without effecting the integrity of the paint?..Thanks

Start with a tar remover to get it off. After that and washing the car, clay it.

Yup, bug and tar remover. Clay should be reserved for smaller particles, not clearly visible splatters of tar or it'll get loaded up too quickly.

Don't forget to wax the areas you used the remover and/or clay on. If you use Zaino, I don't think the remover or clay bar removes it (Zaino).

The bug and tar remover I use leaves a wax like shine afterwards. It beads water and everything. I can't remember the brand, and it doesn't say anything about waxing though, just something I noticed. I bought it at Pep-Boy's, it's a black spray bottle with green bugs on the front. Pretty good stuff.

Sounds like the Turtle Wax bug and tar remover?

It's different from the solventy one in a can because it actually does leave a light wax coating behind... I never tried this stuff because I'm still using my solvent one and it only takes a few seconds to re-apply a real wax anyway. But I almost bought this once.

How easily did it remove the bugs or tar?

Yep, that's the stuff. You still need a good bit of elbow grease to get stubborn stuff off. There's a tree in my yard that leaves brown spots all over my car, but this stuff gets it off with a little effort.

I used some stuff in an aerosol can and it worked pretty well, it was in a fairly generic can that said Tar and bug remover. I think it was pretty strong cause the directions said to not leave it on very long.
