Hi all. I just bough my AE about 3 weeks ago and I have two detailing questions that I need help with, if you all would be so kind...

1) I have some chips on the hood of my car that have been ****ing me off. How can I get rid of them, if at all? I heard somewhere that if you run your fingernail over it and it catches then there is no polishing it out. That sucks beause I tried this and my fingernail gets stuck on each one of them. They are mostly all on the hood and look like little rocks flew up and hit the car during freeway driving.

2) I hear everybody talking about Carnuba for waxing your car. My roommate told me that this was is made for darker cars (black, navy, forest green). My car is maroon, (I hope that you have seen this color on the Max) is this still the wax that I should use?

1) Are these "chips" or "scratches"? The tip about catching your fingernail is for scratches and whether you can expect to remove them or not. Chips where you actually have bits of paint missing, on the other hand, have no other treatment other than touchup paint.

2) You can use a carnauba wax for any colour car. It's not going to make a huge world of difference appearance-wise unless you're very discerning. Carnauba is just the type of wax that it is. Some other "waxes" like Zaino are synthetic polymers. Very few waxes these days are actually made with nothing but carnauba and most are a kind of hybrid of natural and synthetic ingredients. Just some FYI because I'm sure this issue will come up. ;)
