ok, Im ****ed only my third day owning my 00 Max and I just noticed that the driver side front quarter panel has a section of dull paint. My buddy thinks that the panel might have been replaced after a fender bender - I've been working at the section w/ some 3m rubbing compound but all thats happening is my rag is turning black! (color of my car)

what could this be? I'm really hoping for what ever reason the paint was dulled from oxidation, or somthing - The spot isn't very noticeable unless your up close - problem is I know its there !

Plan to finnish buffing and waxing the rest of her tonight - any sugestions on treating this wound?

btw - using Zymol cleaner Wax after 3m rubbing compound & water w/ rotary foam pad at a medium speed. (waxin' by hand)
