Anyone use Meguiar's Deep Crystal 3-Step System?
I just picked it up at Checker's cuz it was on sale, and decided to try something new. Planning to give her a bath tomorrow morning. I think that it is something like a cleaner, polish, then carnauba wax. Does anyone have anything to say about this? I really want to restore the paint as much as possible and I will not be using an orbital. Will just some 100% cotton terry cloths work fine? I'm really trying to get into detailing and want to do it right.
Thanks in advance. :greenboun 86maxima96 |
I used to use it. It does a better than average job but can't compare to Zaino.

I've used the paint cleaner on other cars but haven't had to use it on mine just yet. I've also used the step 2 polish but I think I'm going to pick up some of their Show Car Glaze rather than using the Deep Crystal any longer because I think I could get a better shine than what the step 2 polish provides.
The paint cleaner does remove a great deal of contaminants but I would suggest at least picking up a cheapy orbital because doing it by hand may not yeild the same results as applying a paint cleaner (or polish) with a machine. I never invested in a PC but couldn't imagine doing all of that surface prep without a buffer. As far as the wax goes, I switched from the Gold Class to Nxt Tech Wax. Definately the best wax I've ever used but I haven't tried some of the other waxes I hear frequently mentioned on this forum so there could be better. |
alright, well thanks for the reply's. i saw the gold class as well as the NXT one, and honestly, i got the Deep Crystal just because it was on sale. i think i'll use them just to try it out. i'll try to experience a lot of products so i can really decide down the road what suits it the best.
any other replies are welcome |
I've used it for over two years now, Step1 ( paint cleaner ) does wonders to paint, wash and clay bar the car first, than Step 2 polish - gives very nice/deep shine , but it takes some time to get used to using it.
Tip: when polishing make sure you applicator is nice and moist. I've used Step3 Wax , but i didn't like it , hard to apply and hard to buff off Used NXT and Mothers cleaning wax instead. But now I'm using PS100 , easy as spreading butter !!! than just wip it off with microfiber towel http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...07_81_full.jpg Nick. |
:drool1: i wish i had a darker paint to show off like that. looks great! i applied the 3 steps on a small spot on my hood before i had to go to work one day and it made such a difference! i set the wax bottle on the non-waxed part of the hood and it just sat there, then on the waxed part and it slid right off the hood! i dunno why, but it was cool.
nick: on the 2nd step, did you say to make sure the applicator cloth is damp? that would probably help. also, did you clay bar before or after the 1st step? |
Yes , make sure the applicator is nice and damp, You will notice that if you apply Polish to dry applicator it goes on easy but dries off too fast , ance the applicator is soaked with Polish it makes the job much easier
Always clay bar before polishing/waxing Nick. [QUOTE=86maxima96 nick: on the 2nd step, did you say to make sure the applicator cloth is damp? that would probably help. also, did you clay bar before or after the 1st step?[/QUOTE] |
