Clear Bra

I've been doing some research in regards to this product. I've heard of people spending 3-400 dollars to "professionally" put on a clear bra. Is this worth it? I just picked up a new car (white) and already have dead bugs on the front.

hey i wouldnt recommend it....i was looking into it as well, but was convinced by the guys that tinted my windows not to do it. i was even gonna get it off ebay for cheap and save alot of money, so i figured it might be worth it. anyways point being, it does and will leave a noticeable line across your hood, keep in mind every time you wax how its gonna be a pain to keep clean. it will oxidize the paint too i think, i just think for the money and effort to do it its not worth it to me... my 2 cents

We have it on our G, came with it. The line is noticeable but it is not toooo bad to clean. Better than the bugs/rocks removing chips in the paint.

This "clear bra" is totally unrelated to the nylon type out there?? I was thinking about getting one cause of the chips I get so easily on the hood, but not sure about water drainage under it and road salt crap in the winter time. Any input on this?

You treat it like the rest of you paint. Its no different than getting wax between the hood or the doors. And no it doesnt oxidize paint. You do need to polish it though or else it will yellow faster than normal.

Find a car that has one and see if it will bother you. Its noticeable if you look straight at it, but besides that you cant see it.

Also, theres a reason it costs they cost that much to be installed. They are tough to do.

Bug Solution
 

I'm looking for a solution to deal with my bug problem. I put a lot of highway and back woods driving every day in my Max, and I continually build up a nice graveyard of bugs on my bumper/hood. I'm also starting to see some paint chipping on my hood from highway bugs/rocks.

What can I do to partially remedy this while not ruining the style of my 04 Max? Is there a hood deflector available for a 6th gen Max (haven't been able to find one)?

The clear bra stuff sounds hella expensive...

If you go with a quality film, such as the 3m paint protection film, I think it will be worth it, the bugs are a lot easier to remove, and the film will take the brunt of the rock and bug attacks, push comes to shove, you replace the damaged clear bra before you'd ever have to repaint your car:ben:
