Just found a great match for vinyl on all the chrome for a smoother look. Cleaned and sealed for the spring.

At first I was like "WTF he is talking about" I see it now, it looks great. The chrome on my Tuscan red makes the car look awesome, but I can see on this car how removing the chrome gave your car a smoother look.

Can I suggest a better before and after picture?????

Brudface 03-23-2016 08:07 PM

Looks really good. The chrome trim does look quite out of place on the 7th gen especially with a grey, silver, white or black... Chrome is for the 20th century and should've stayed there. I will make the exception for rigs though, but there is a line and most of them cross it.

Yeah I Like it.
Funny, I wanted to the opposite of what your doing for my 07' and get chrome overlays for my doors and the door knobs.. My 07' is also a red color. I love the contrast Red and chrome gives.

BIGIRISHSTL 03-25-2016 08:21 AM

I agree with you both! Red and chrome have that classic Ferrari look but it seems antiquated now on these cars. Especially since it's not real chrome anymore!

SR20Power 03-25-2016 12:05 PM

I don't think they've had real chrome on cars since the 70's.

Brudface 03-25-2016 02:56 PM

All it is is a piece of plastic with a chrome overlay, almost like a vinyl wrap. It's chrome LOOK-A-LIKE.

BIGIRISHSTL 03-25-2016 06:02 PM

Exactly. So I'm doing it a service by keeping it pristine for the next person who can reveal it!

SR20Power 03-26-2016 02:06 AM

Where did you buy it from? I am looking for chrome overlay for my 07'...

BIGIRISHSTL 03-26-2016 12:30 PM

Good ole Amazon... Chrome trim tape should be pretty common. Just make sure it's 3M and a car product vinyl as it should last 7-10years outdoors.

viprider 06-06-2016 07:52 PM

To be honest, it looks cleaner with the chrome deleted.

Great looking 7th Gen. Color and door handles are a great match.

BIGIRISHSTL 06-11-2016 11:31 AM

I agree with above statements above! ;-)

SR20Power 07-09-2016 09:17 PM

VERY NICE!!! I can't tell, but is it a 7? looks really long from this angle. Very nice looking either way! you know my next question :) did you detail it?

BIGIRISHSTL 07-10-2016 07:21 PM

Yep

I'd like to wrap the rear camera trunk chrome in vinyl, and do the doors in all black eventually. Has anyone come across a good vinyl match for QAB pearl?

Most German cars clear coat are typically harder, unless it's an older Porsche with a single stage paint job.. If it is a hard clear that means you have to use compounds that have a better cutting properties to get the swirls out. A lot people tend to float towards Menzerna products and a Flex 3401.. Both of which i have :)
As most paint correction jobs, they will try the least aggressive process first to test the clear coat to determine how much work is needed. Don't get tied up in the "3 step" process, some cars don't need it and to be honest, unless it's a black car you won't notice the difference ~~~>IMO

Watch this link and get your favorite jerk off lotion because you will loose your load after watching one of my favorite BMW cut and buff vids. Cheers!

BIGIRISHSTL 07-11-2016 02:36 PM

Nice. Thanks for the info. It is in fact a black car! My first cause I always stayed away cause they are so beautiful clean but suck every other day of the week ;-). I'm gonna check out the vid now and I have the jergens and tissues ready!?!?

BIGIRISHSTL 07-13-2016 05:17 AM

Watched the video. Wow!!! You could actually shave in one of those panels. Beautiful and unusual color too
