Water spots and how to avoid them?
Perhaps a question that will get me laughed at: has anyone tried something like JetDry to keep water spots from forming on his car when he washes it? That's the stuff you can put in your dishwasher to prevent water spots on your glasses.

I've found the best way to limit waterspots is to squeegee the windows with a window blade immediately after washing and not allowing the water to dry. Hammer it with some Stoners Invisible glass and you're good to go. If the waterspots remain, spin some Autoglym glass polish on your windows. That stuff is cherry.

Thanks for the reply, VTonmymind. Unfortunately, here on the Third Coast during summer, water dries on my car even before I'm done washing it, so water spots are formed as I go. I can try Autoglym and Stoners on my glass. Any tips for the painted parts?

Wash your car only with the surfaces stone cold and wash out of direct sunlight. I personally wash my cars in the garage. Immediately after your final rinse, dry it with a leaf blower or have an ample supply of towels handy for a wipe-down. Keeping your glass waxed will help a lot. I find that the spray on carnuba works very nicely. Not sure what you’re meaning by “third coast” but I’d venture a guess that your water ain’t drying faster than mine. |
Sounds like you have some hard water too. As turbo suggested, try and wash when the sun isnt beaming on it. Early morning, later in the evening, in the shade, in a garage, car port or cash wash with a protected bay. Might sound silly, but don't wash on a breezy day either as the wind will dry that shyt up right quick. And +1 on the wax or window seal.
