Maxima 2000 se 5speed dyno results

I've used a dynojet to find out how much hp i have it gave me 189-195whp (6450 rpm) in all the runs i did! I took my car to use the dynapack and it showed 172-173.9 whp (6450 rpm) the two dyno graphs were exactly the same yet the whp for every rpm was at a different level! goes to show how two dynos will never give the same results!!!

i got my car tuned and changed my a/f to 13.5 aprox, it gave me 5-10whp(1450-5000rpm)& 13-18 whp(5000-6450rpm) i went from {max-whp 173.9} to {max-whp 191.2-192} the neo made my maxima really pull!! on the dyno jet i'm told i'll put down 210-215 WHP :-) now that i'm tuned!
MODS: Y-Pipe Custom stainless, Hi-flow cat, cold air, AFC NEO, sound system

THIS IS A LINK OF THE DYNO BUT it isn't as much as it should be on the dynojet max whp is 210-215

These are great results, and nice gains from the tuning. But i am confused about one thing - if the gains are from the a/f change, then shouldn't the 2 power curves be the same around 3500 rpm, where the a/f is about the same?

mooseq30 10-12-2006 03:25 PM

its because of the gain in horsepower at lower RPM, because the mixture is slightly richer from 1500 to 3500rpm the gain in horsepower has "momentum" and keeps the numbers higher through the band

TomV 10-12-2006 03:42 PM

Maybe the pulling out of fuel in the lower rpms gets you on a more advanced timing map the rest of the way up? EDIT: that doesn't work - you added fuel at the lower rpms.. :gotme:

Did you do more than 1 baseline and 1 tuned run? I'd be interested to know for sure that some of the gain wasnt from heatsoak/cooldown etc.

I'm not in any way knocking your results, i'm just hopeful that it really is from your tuning because i have a similar setup and i'm going to be doing just an a/f tune.

same thing happens (seems to happen) with a base timing advance. i think its the momentum theory, it wouldnt drop HP just at one spot because thats what it was before. if it did there would be a dip and it wouldnt make any sense

DO NOT make assumptions as to what you will see on this that or the other machine, it's unreliable, and not proven. (Quantitative > Qualitative ALWAYS)

Until you get on a DJ, keep a tight lip... Or set-up for :bill: ... Hopefully you can prove me wrong...

Besides people, this IS the intraweb... Use intraweb dynos (DJ)\. :wiggle:

I went thre times to put my car dyno, the first time was on a dynojet and i have the dyno it put on four runs a max hp 194,190,192,191 i went back a mounth later to check if my car was runing right to check the a/f, it was way to rich all through the higher rpms (3000 and up...) i put down on the the three runs 192, 189, 193, than three weeks later got the neo and went to see what the dynapack shows me stock, it said 173-174 3 runs in a row. I showed the tuner my graph from the previous dyno and he told me the only difference is the way it was calibrated and either one could be off. the important thing is to see how much i can gain!! so we leaned it out hard and kept playing with it, finnally after getting it to 184, than 188, 190 than 191.2 by changing the value at 6450(rpm) to -13% instead of -12% on the neo air map! i'm exited to finish my exaust (custom Resonator, and a custom variable muffler with a switch on the dash to open and close the valve in the muffler) than i plan on getting the a/f checked again and possibly readjusted on the dynapack and even retested on the dynojet!

By the way my freind has the VAFC-II and it only has 12 points with two settings, thus a total of 24 points but only twelve at a time!! They wouldn't make a new product that replaces the VAFC-II worse!!!

The neo has 16 points but to be honest u don't even need that many!! it just improves the chances of having a perfect A/F, the neo has 16 points on hi throttle and 16 on low throttle. Thus 16+16 = 32 --> (VAFC-II) 24 < 32 (NEO)

Stop being a newbie...

Read the AM forums before you make assumptions about how many points it (VAFCII)has :newbie:

Congrats on the gains..
