NISformance 2004 Maxima FWD HR stock cams 320 whp 285 tq
Here we have a 2004 Maxima with 2009 Maxima FWD HR engine
We originally worked on this car many years ago. 2009 Maxima engine (stock internals) Ebay altima ser headers 3" crush bent catback NISformance 4" short ram intake GTR injectors 350Z RevUp ecu Gutted upper intake manifold (since the z ecu cant run vias anyway, thats why under 3700 rpm there is a dip, working vias would fix this) UpRev reflash tune The car is now fully dyno tuned on this setup making great power at 313 whp. We have been doing a lot of testing and running 3.5" intakes for a while now so we decided this car here would be a perfect test car since it has our 4" intake on it. All the following dyno runs are from today, on the same car with same air temps , coolant temps, oil temps, and AFR ratio. the ONLY changes are the actual intake pipes. This first graph is how the car was setup by us years ago with a short ram 4" 313 whp 283 tq with the top end pretty flat after 6200 rpm https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....18a2ae8691.jpg Here is some 3.5" intake testing we tested 3 different lengths. By changing the intake lengths we can move around a nice bump in power. The bump in power really helps the top end power and torque. We are not looking at just peak numbers, there is actually a nice gain in the top end. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....e180f2bd2e.jpg Zoomed in at the top end. Clearly can see the differences. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....c1dc4fbe0a.jpg Ok so now we overlay the 4 and 3.5 intakes. The red, blue, green, yellow are same from previous pic of different length 3.5" intakes. The dark blue , brown, olive are 4" Zoomed in on the top end https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....41a20cb34e.jpg Zoomed out, kinda cluttered so hp and tq on 2 separate pics https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....fe947ebdc5.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....5fc94a4c42.jpg Its pretty clear the 3.5" makes more power in a few areas over the 4" in the midrange and top end. In conclusion, intakes yeah they are a big topic in the FWD VQ community. We have been making intakes for a few years now but not in a full production scale. We originally tested the 4" in 2012 and made 300whp on stock cams. Which was a huge accomplishment back then. But now we have our own dyno and are able to do more in depth tuning and testing. As a result of our testing here on this car and many other cars we simply run 3.5" intakes for the clear power gains over 4". If you have headers , catback exhaust, tune, and intake then chances are your car is making good power no matter what exact intake you may have. In some of our testing we have not shown any difference between these intakes on cars with smaller exhaust or headers that have very small runners. Thanks for all the support over the years! Our mission is to push the platform into a new performance level. All testing proved by www.NISformance.com |

Good stuff. I'm assuming this would apply to DE's as well?

Any updates on intakes for DE motors?
