Just hit 123456 and changed oil with a BIG filter

Well just changed my oil and hit 123456 miles... kinda odd seing it..lol

Also, BILL I used the stp S6941 oil filter and worked and FIT

I bought the maxima stp filter as well... just in case the new filter did not fit

If your still using a maxima oil filter.. STOP.. this thing is about 2 times the size of our "normal" ones. I can't imagine how much better this is going to work

Just wanted to say thanks bill, you did something nice and I am telling the world..LOLOLOLOL

The key is the surface area of the filter media, not the exterior dimensions. There was a big research article called the incredible shrinking oil filter. Because they can get a better media, pleat it more than ever, it can be made smaller on the outside. If you want evidence look up Volvo filters, and how they've changed over the years. All the gas vehicles from 1962+ use the same one. They are made in West Germany by Mann, and are top-notch.

www.Motorvate.ca has a great comparison of a nissan oil filter and some other brand oil filter. At least Nissan made their filters right.

Cool....welcome to the mid-90s Porsche oil filter club.

That's hard to quantify. Based upon Baldwin's oil filter spec's, the surface area on the 6941 is a good bit bigger than a conventional VQ oil filter.

Just wanted to say thanks bill, you did something nice and I am telling the world..LOLOLOLOL

You are only ruining my reputation. STOP IT!

The trade-off is reduced pressure capability in the oil filter housing. Stress in a pressure vessel is proportional to the diameter. I'd be surprised if there wasn't plenty of safety margin designed in by the filter manufacturer, though.

With the S6941 I had a hard time finding anything out but flow rates, which is the same as other acceptable VQ filters such as the 6607 and 7317......
