75W-85 MT Fluid

Has anybody switched to the TSB recommended 75W-85 MT fluid since they bought their car and, if so, is their a noticable gain in shift smoothness? I'm currently using Redline MT-90 and I have found that it has been getting increasingly notchy recently and was thinking that this MT fluid might alleviate some of that. Anyone with any info please post.

Thanks, Matt

AT 10k on my 2K2, I had the clutch TSB performed. The oil was swapped by the dealer and they replaced OEM gear oil with a GL-5 spec. Nissan calls for GL-4 only! GL-5 will destroy brass and bronze parts in the tranny (like synchros). I realized this and installed Amsoil GL-4 synthetic. My tranny was notchy. Then I installed 75-90 dino GL-4 (hard to find) and the tranny shift feel has been much better, but not as good as original OEM fluid. I would highly recommend using the Nissan spec'd lube.

Thanks for the info. I'm probably going to go through with this change. I don't think the extra notchiness and the added pressure on the throws is good for the synchros. While the MT-90 fluid may be better for the bearings, etc., I really don't want to wear out the synchros faster. Thanks again.

Let me know if you have the same experience as me once you get it changed . . .
