Also do you have any info on the Mobil M1-108 Filter? I looked at your comments on the 105 and 110 and want to know what the differences in the 108 filter.

Thanks.

Hmmmnnn...

I'm seeing 0.4% insoluables...maybe I should give another filter a try besides OEM?

What's recommended best?

I use the Mobil 1 filter, and insoluables is .2 regular for me (had .4 during pollen season here, when our pollen count was like 5500 the day I did my change).

I've got (3)0.3 and (1)0.4.

0.4 is the latest with the most miles, so that's probably why.

I'm not sure it's worth the cost to step up to Mobil filters...aren't they $10+ vs. <$5 for OEM?

Yep...but I get reimbursed for all vehicle stuff (oil, filters, tires, gas...etc). If you're on a budget or paying out of pocket, try a Wix filter.

I saw the 108 filter and its really small. Will that matter as far as filtration goes?

Quick: Is that what you use (Wix)?

I used to, but I switched to all Mobil 1 stuff (I really don't have a good reason for switching). The Wix stuff was working just as good as the Mobil 1. The Wix is now harder for me to find, though...

I did a dumb thing when I switched to Supersyn, I used the Fram filter so I need to get a good filter being that I do my oil changes every 10000 miles.

Wix, Mobil 1, or I think the K&N one (IIRC) is a really good one to use. There are others out there that are decent, but these (IMHO) are the cream of the crop...

Thanks deezo.

I've never really been comfortable basing any conclusions about oil filtration effectiveness using the "insolubles" level. I don't see any real consistent pattern.

If it's over 0.5%, then I would say a filter brand change is warranted; but really, your air filtration (which could allow more "dirt", a.k.a. silicon) and oxidation of both current and past oils (residual) can affect oil filtration just as much as the oil filter itself.

More than anything, Fram isn't recommended because of nsconsistent manufacturing, not necessarily the filtration itself.
