What are my options for changing my trans fluid?

I'm having trouble with this one guys. First off I keep forgetting what type of Trans Fluid my girls 2003 Maxima takes. Matic D was it? Now just like anything else on this car, the fluid seems to be a dealer only product. Since it's not my car I'd like to stick with OEM fluid, especially seeing how some people have slight problems with aftermarket synthetic fluids in the cold. But the stealership wants $149 for a complete flush and the worst part is I HATE going to the dealership around me. Jiffy Lube is cheaper but some of those guys can be real jerks with people's cars. The fluid itself from the dealership is about $8 a quart.

I'm not sure what to do. She has 31,xxx miles on the car so I'd like to do a flush sometime soon. I'm almost contemplating popping in a drain plug myself but the car is still under Drivetrain warranty.

Any other options here?

Redline has a D rated ATF... forgot the exact name. That's what I used before I switch over to Amsoil.

Hmmm... I guess I haven't read this forum frequent enough as I never heard of people have problem with synthetic ATF in the cold. The synthetic ATF is supposely provide better protection and lubrication in cold.

Just get some Mobil 1 synthetic trans. fluid from AutoZone or the like.

how much is oem nissan fluid?

If I'm correct it's about $8-9 a quart.

The thing I don't like about universal fluids such as AMSOIL or Mobil1, is that from what I hear they're fomulated to work in a number of applications but may not work as well as something formulated to work specifically in a certain application. Nissan's fluids has a certain package of additives and such to work for Matic D transmissions.

It'll probably work just fine, but like I said, not my car.
