Royal Purple HPS--good idea to use??

Have been using Mobil-1 since the car was new. Wondering about Royal Purple HPS which has more wear additives (zinc/phos) than standard API synthetics.

What's the opinion on it--better for the VQ engine??

I honestly think Royal Purple is all hype. I personally wouldn't pour any kind of motor oil into my car that has colored dye additives in it.

I also have yet to see any concrete proof that Royal Purple's products are superior to Mobil 1/Valvoline/etc.

The oil test generally show that Royal purple is superior to every other oil on the market.... until you go over the mileage, the RP literally turns into sh1t!! So if you're religious about your oil changes than yes, RP is the way to go... But if you're like 90% of maxima owners and always go over a bit (lets say 1k miles) then your motor will regret it.

Try that 0w40 Mobile 1 stuff, I've heard very good things.

Thanks--I think I will stick with Mobil-one for now, esp since the Royal Purple is almost $10/qt!
