ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid?
Does anyone here have any opinions or experience with this? I'm looking to change my brake fluid soon, and I'm wondering if this would be a good choice. Link: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/brake...cat=BrakeFluid

Used it in the race cars at my former employer. Works great, but idk if it's really beneficial for a street car unless you plan on doing some heavy-duty track days. You have to completely flush your system, when putting this in.

Good stuff. Been using it for about 7 years. probably overkill for street use but it has a 3 year normal service life as opposed to 1-2 years with most "normal" brake fluids. Glycol based brake fluids are hygroscopic- ie they will absorb water, which is why it's important to keep brake fluid containers sealed, and not leave cylinder caps off for an extended period of time. Super Blue and ATE 200 (amber-same stuff, different color, to facilitate flushes) if I recall correctly have a tendency to absorb less humidity, which I believe explains the 3 year change interval.

Every vehicle I own runs super blue or the gold, like they said above to facilitate brake flushes. It is excellent fluid and for 15 bucks, well worth the money over cheap garbage. Most cars, one tin will flush the whole system. I used 1 1/2 for my F350.

DO NOT MIX DOT3,4, OR 5.1 WITH DOT 5 BRAKE FLUID. The information in the link says mixable with dot 3,4, and 5.1(no tthe same as dot 5). Dot 5 is a silicone based brake fluid that I have mainly seen used on bikes(and is not approved for use in ABS systems IIRC). DOT 3,4,5.1 are polyethyline glycol based brake fluids, and are technically compatible with each other(no problems come out of mixing them). The DOT 5.1 designation came about because fluid manufacturers had been able to formulate a dot 4 fluid that met the boiling point requirements of DOT 5, but were polyethyline glycol based, thus DOT 5.1(sometimes called super DOT 4 or other names)
