amount of oil

my 2014 maxima requires 5.125 qts of oil. will it be any harm in putting in just 5 qts? that 0.125 extra is hard to measure.

it doesnt have to be exact, in reality you can get away with around a quarter litre to half a litre overfilled without any engine damage. little low isnt a problem either

just put 5L in then add a extra splash of oil for the 0.125, doesnt have to be exact

^this. And make it a habit to check your oil dipstick every once in a while (after the car has been sitting for at least 30 minutes) and make sure it's within the hatched area.

.125 Q = 4 ounces. Not a big deal. You'll still be well within the operating range on the dipstick by just adding 5Q

I question whether changing the oil on your 2014 Maxima yourself would contravene your warranty. I wouldn't change the oil myself while under warranty. You don't need to get it done at the stealership if you can find a warranty approved franchise.

keep the receipt for the oil and filter, usually thats enough for a warranty claim
