Almost reaching 10,000 miles and I was wondering what kinda oil do you guys use for your 8th gen maxis? Any recommendations? Any thoughts on synthetic oil?

Nissan recommends to change oil every 5K but I redba lot of topics and watched videos, spoke with mechanics they. Got kinda mixed feedbacks.. some say every 5K some every 7K some 10K. So I will probably stick to 7K because last time I changed it was at 7K. Regarding oil you need to use full synthetic 0W20 as per manual with American Petroleum Institute (API) certification or International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC) certification and SAE viscosity standard.

I’m currently using Indimitsu 0W20 full synthetic oil. A company I’ve never heard before but it works fine.

Idemitsu Full Synthetic 0W-20 Engine Oil SN/GF-5 - 5 Quart https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072KDRZFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_owaWAb7BDQRQH

I can’t recommend it to you because it poured itself into my engine.

Recently ordered this kit from Georgia Nissan Dealership.
It’s only 25 bucks with free shipping and it’s OEM kit which Nissan use( not sure how good it is but whatever)
Genuine Nissan 0W-20 Oil Change Kit 15208-65F0E https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074T37K41/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MCaWAb1VM2F86

And your Nissan warranty will be honored at 7k mile oil changes if you experience engine failure?

As far as I know they won’t.

Nissan says 5 K and at that interval you can use regular brand name mineral oil. Thats what Nissan uses during their factory service contracts. The service manager tried to upsell me on synthetic oil last oil change service. No sense doing that if you do the 5K intervals. Like many of you, once the warranty coverage is in your rear view mirror, I'd opt for the synthetic with an 8 K interval

My 6th gen. Maxima started to devour oil with about 6k left on the power train warranty. Nissan didn't even ask for any documentation on the oil change intervals and replaced the engine with a factory long block under full warranty.

I've only had the chance to do one oil change so far, and I did full synthetic. I mean one only needs two or three oil changes a year, why not go with the best?

Maybe in several years when the shine has worn off, I'll switch to Dino oil, but for now it's synthetic all the way

Driving VQs since 2001. I have found that this engine seems so smooth using Mobile 1. I used to use Castrol Dino, and tried Royal Purple for a few years....But M1 was best. May just be my imagination....

Mobil 1

Currently driving 17 with only 12000 miles , previous car was a 2007 which I kept and still in the family , as soon it hitted 60,000 switched to synthetic Mobil 1 and thats the only brand I had used and the engine running soo smooth that you need to look in the instrument panel to notice the engine running , as soon as I hit that 60,000 mark only Mobil1.

So...you only want a "soo smooth" running engine after 60,000 miles, not before?

Well OK then.

Oil

I have a 2021 SR. I use Castrol Ultra Titanium with Wix XP filter change between 3000-4000 miles. Car runs great!
Anybody have an idea of when to clean intake valves as GDI does have issues.
