grrr...can't get double sided tape off...

I have tape on my fenders from my lip. I tried goo gone, and it still is a pain to get off. any other solutions available?

maxima42 Jul 30, 2002 08:02 PM

get a small bottle of bacardi 151, I used it to get the goo off from the hamburger on the back

sil SE Jul 30, 2002 08:35 PM

whyd you take the lip off?

It's getting painted, so I want to put new tape on when I put it on.

Get a large bottle, that way, if you still can't get the tape residue off at least you can get drunk and forget about it.

:D

I'd try heating with a hair dryer and scraping with my nails or rubbing alcohol or bug/tar remover or meguiar's body scrub. I'm surprise Goo-Gone didn't work well for you.

Good luck! ! !

it's some generic industrial stuff my dad has in the shed. Why would you want tape thats easy to remove? The whole point is that it holds well?

I use screw also. I only put the tape on the area right next to the fender so the lip sits nice and flush instead of having a gap.

MaximaRider Jul 31, 2002 03:39 PM

u misunder stood me, i dont want tape thats easy to take off, i said i wanted some tape thats a pain in the @SS to take off, so i want something thats a 1time deal, basically perminent. and yeah max7 it is the original stillen tape, disapointing isnt it. ill just stop by a local body shop or something and pick some up i guess unless u guys know a better place, maybe homedepot? any suggestions? im gonna do it the next time i do my oil change so the cars gonna be a good 4-5ft off the ground be4 is start so that way i have alot more room. alos the rivets that stillen provided are sorry as well. im gonna slightly expand the rivets and get 24 stronger peices.

Try WD-40. Spray it on and let it soak in good. THen you should be able to get it to release.
