225/55/16 will it work on my 99 se wheels

On discount tire they have this plus one size which is 225/55/16 will this size fit on my 99 se rims?? Are these going to be taller, will it affect my speedo much? Anyone else do it?

If the rims are 16 x 6.5" wide, the answer is yes. 225/55 will work, but 225/50 will not. I have the 16" 5 spoke with the BFG G Force 225/55 ZR16 and the handling is much better than the stock Toyos.

The tire is slightly taller. It fills in the wheel gap some.

I have 225-50-ZR16 tires on my 16 x 6.5" Stock SE rims. They fit. Unless I am sorely mistaken...:gotme:

Yes they fit, but are not recommended by the manufacturer for safety reasons.

This is the same debate that has raged on in the 5th gen forum with the 235/45 r17 on the 7" stock 6 spoke rim, stock tires being 225/50r17 and the rim being 17 x 7". In that case, the 235/50 zr17 is the correct size and within manufacturers specifications.

225/55 r16 is correct size, is within the 3% rule, and within the manufacturer's requirements.

Makes sense. So they FIT, but are just not recommended due to the chance of the bead popping off of the rim. Makes sense. I was trying to keep my overall diameter close to stock.
