13's NA again!! This time with my 18's, 1/2 tank of gas and full interior!

Well today I made a trip out to go see Paul @ Avalon racing to swap a part(thanks again Paul!). While I was in the area I decided what the hey.. I'm gonna go to NED! Well with that in mind I showed up at the drag strip with my car in full street condition. That included all my seats, my spare, 1/2 tank of gas and most notably my 18' rims, I had a nother 20 pounds of junk in the car! The weather at the time of my run was 42 F and 80-90% humidity. Heres my best time of the night broken down..

R/T ... .350
60' ... 2.242
330 ... 5.996
1/8 ... 9.070
MPH ... 81.55
1000 .. 11.717
1/4 ... 13.963
MPH ... 100.28

Myself and others where once again amazed by how my maxima did! I was shocked when I got yelled at for not wearing a helemt, lol. I was like WTF? I hit 13's like this! Well hell ya, I promised the guy I would slow it down  My 245/40/18 Kumho Supras where extremly un-predictable in this cold, cold weather(went down to 31F). Launching the car took quite a bit of skill otehr wise all hell would break loose! My times of the night where as follows(in order) 14.66, 13.96, 14.67, 14.14, 14.16, 14.42, 14.83, 14.15.

Another notable run was when I did a 2.402 60' and still pulled off a 14.166 @ 100.43 MPH. Ohh and my best MPH of the night was 100.46 MPH.

In closing it was a great year of drag racing(my first), I have really improved a great deal in my driving ability on and off the street. I started out with all my mods minus my UDP and Y-pipe(same conditions) and only managed a best of 14.6.. With a bit of practice and a few mods I shaved off a cool .8 seconds :)

Nice RT on your best run. I am surprised that your car is so fast with 18s. How much does your combo weigh?

costcowholesale Oct 23, 2002 11:16 PM

I think I have you all beat in terms of R/T

I did a .14  . I was gonna brake flash or wutever you call it my car at the 1st yellow & i wasn't stepping on the brakes hard enough & started rolling

good run ethan

Good Job emax95 :D

my times suck with 18's:bawling:

MaxSpeedSE Oct 23, 2002 11:23 PM

Congrats :D

I wonder why my tires weigh so much? My rims only weigh 25 which isnt that bad for 18s, but my tire make my combo weigh 68lbs.

BugNout Oct 23, 2002 11:32 PM

How did you get traction with your Kuhmos when it is that cold. Damn you slipping that clutch big time? How are you launching? What PSI (cold) were you running fronts/backs.

BriGuyMax Oct 23, 2002 11:44 PM

I bet the 18s are LIGHTER than your stock rims and tires.

They are by 1 lb. But the weight savings is killed by the extra rolling intertia and the diffuclty to launch.. These wheels/tires are incredibly hard to launch at any time and then when it's cold out it's almost impossible to do. All my 60's where 2.4's except the one on my 13.9 run :o

BugNout, Front tires where at 23 PSI and the rears where at 42 :D On that launch I went to take off and saw that I red lighted, then I kinda let off and then floored it. It was a real weird launch, I wish I know what I did exactly because it sure did work well.

Let me know because my Kuhmo Supras spin like crazy all the way through 1st even at a roll at any speed in 1st. Kumhos 712's really don't like the cold roads.

How do you normally launch?

PS I've meet Paul from Avalon a few times at different events. Did he get his new 350z yet?

MaximaGXE93 Oct 24, 2002 12:28 AM

All I can say is...How the hell?

MaximaGXE93 Oct 24, 2002 12:30 AM

I mean wtf...you probably got faster times than Maximas that have turbo or s/c. Damn, wtf.

31F!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even better. I wish my track didn't have wussies for workers. We can't run unless it's 50+ and sunny.

Even at 31F, my car wouldn't run 13s at Kansas City International Raceway. Elevation and track conditions just aren't that great.

Dave

MAXINXS Oct 24, 2002 09:43 PM

Were you running w/ a passenger or alone? I assume alone, but am curious how much of a difference another 160 or so lbs really makes. I'm going to the track tomorrow and the guys that are coming with me don't want to be outside in the cold. wussies.:p

Are you implying you would run 13's at another track? LOL..

Nice run! Hey, what grill is that you have on your I30 on your site. Is that a I35 grill? Are those HID foglights also?

The grill was imported from japan off of a nissan cefiro, I stuck the infiniti emblem on it. I had HID's in the fogs and headlights and it lit up everything :D

...I envy you...:D
