:D The same way I am saying "**** I need some more money" ;) The ecu is tight, I wonder what you will run in Fontana:confused:

Wow I wish I had an ECU. I've purchased 2 from .org members and been screwed out of $660 + shipping charges in my quest for one :slant:

Why don't you go direct to Gforce?

You can get an ECU from a 95-96 and drop her in. But the only thing is the CEL. The 95-96 ECU will be looking for that O2 sensor in the Cat and since your car doesn't have one, it will throw that code. But, if you can find the wire off of the harness/somewhere in the car, you can install one of those "ECU fake O2 sensors" that tricks the ECU into thinking there is an O2 sensor there........

On 97's yes, but your still not going to see the gains that 95-96's have. I have a 98. (digital odometer is ran by the ecu right??) The only person I know with a 98 that has gotten an ECU upgrade is Madigras and that is because he has a 96 engine. :(

From what g-froce said awhile back, it isn't that they can't break the code, its that they don't have the right size boards to fit the 97 plus ECU's??

98 needs one, and 99 needs one, but both would have to be different.

I noticed when i was visiting powerchip.com.au that they dont have the specs on the 95-96 maxima chips anymore and has a an email link saying, there is no chip for this model. Did anyone from this org end up buying one ? I almost did on my old max just curious why they removed it from there lineup

Nismo87SE Nov 17, 2002 09:04 PM

Improvise. If they reprogram a 98+ ECU then adapt a 98+ harness to accept a 95-97ecu. Hell if you want call JWT and ask them how to do it. All you need is a FSM for your car and borrow one from a 95-97 max.

Why don't they just come out with a Nissan Power Programmer for VG/VQ motors like Hypertech has for Vortec Chevy's? I mean thats a HUGE market considering the applications of the 3.0/3.5L motors b/c you're talking about Maximas, Altimas, the 350Z and even the SUV owners who want more power and torque. You could plug it into the diagnostic port, upload and GO.

I figure why not just get a Greddy Emanage and do the samething? Also consider there are at least 20:1 ratio of GM trucks to nissan maximas. Considering 5% like to upgrade the max's and GM trucks which market would you supply?

Ultimately I need a JWT for the increased redline. I purchased the "G-Force" from a guy for a pretty good price to tide me over until spring when I get a JWT then I was just planning on selling it. It turned out to be a stock auto ECU. The guy has screwed a few other Max owners too, except I at least got an ECU that I can sell, the other people got nothing.

The "JWT ECU" I bought turned out to be a "JET ECU". It felt good as far as gains but I can only imagine a G-Force or JWT being better. I sent the ECU back and got my money back eventually.
