What's your resolution?

Working on a Max site and I want to know what the main users are running, in order to size it appropriately. Thanks fellas

nadir_s Feb 3, 2003 08:50 PM

Hopefully you are using Dreamweaver... i always define the resolution as 800X600. Shouldn't have to be any bigger than that. Good luck on ure website!

1024x768 but I would go with 800x600

releasedtruth Feb 4, 2003 07:23 AM

I've built near 100 sites, it's my trade, but I wanted to know what the Max group was using predominantly so that I'm not locked to 8x6 if I don't have to be. If the poll turns out how I imagine, a 766 wide page will be smaller than everyone needs.

90+ views and only 20 votes.... hehe
If anyone has any thoughts, let me know. Should be a very smooth working ecommerce site with some quality detail shots

800X600 is what I'm used to seeing.

1600 X 1200

 All websites fit on my screen.

That's what I'm talkin' bout! You get everything on there at 1600

Depends what I'm using. I LOVE 1600x1200 on my laptop, but on my desktop, I'm either 1024x768 or 1600x1200. That way, as EJJ said, you can see everything.

I don't understand the 800x600 people. Why do you want to scroll so much? ;)

Mike

Not just the scrolling, but the size of the fonts has got to be enormous, appropriate for the seeing impaired. Even my dad uses 1024 and he wears trifocals...

I use 1600 x 1200 on my work computer with a 21" monitor, and 1280 x 1024 on my home computer with a 19" monitor.

Mainly its a function of what I'm doing with it (ie, working on the work computer, browsing and email on the home computer).

Still polling to see what you guys think. Once I get to a higher polling saturation, I'll be able to make the change with some assurance. Right now I'm looking at 886 for a width, should be good all around. Can't wait to open the doors to this place and see how it goes

I always set my resolution to the highest possible. I have a bunch of windows open all the time, and it's good to be able to see them all (or most of them) at the same time. So I voted for the highest reso.

Good luck vito with the project.

I run 1280x3072

(3x 1280x1024 19" monitors running multimon under W2kP)

That's the way to do it. I tried 2 monitors for a while, they weren't the same size or even next to each other and I got all disoriented after a while

Well it's not so much the scrolling... it's just professional. It's best to keep your splash page at that size at least. All other info/link pages from the splash can vary on the height.

Then again, he is the designer so it'd be up to him. I personally use 1600x1200 resolution but when designing, always kept it no bigger than 800x600. Anyways, just my opinion. I hope your website is coming along nice, can't wait to see it! good luck

releasedtruth Feb 6, 2003 01:26 PM

Yeah, it's near complete. It's not for me personally so my choices are limited by other concerns, mostly the persons footing the bill. Just wanted to confirm that you fellas were more advanced a group than the average layperson. Most sites I've built are 8x6 friendly, but there's so much more you can do with a little extra width.... and extra design funds :)
