JWT ECU owners: List any problems you've had
I just ordered a used ECU which I will send to JWT for programming. Can you guys tell if you've had any problems? I know that BSwithTF has had detonation in the upper rpms and I've also read about trouble codes appearing.
Do any of you guys run a little race gas to take full advantage of the advanced timing? Dave |
my pop charger gets dirty sometimes :D
|
wasn't there some issues with jwt just slapping on a sticker and sending the ecu back to owners with no modification done to it?

I seemed to have resolved my problem with detonation. For a long time, a had to use 93+octane booster or I'd get the 0304 code. As long as I used both, no code. Then I ran a can of BG44K through it and I can use 93 alone and still have no codes. The other day after the track I checked the codes and cleared the check engine light (tranny resistor switch:) )and to my suprise there wasn't a knock sensor code in there. For the last 3 or 4 months, no codes and no problems. Except driving to the one gas station in town that carries 93!

s/c program for 96 with 370cc injectors and max maf, m/t:
First ecu, built in egr code, not clearable but with no light. Second ecu, at malfunction light, get mil everytime i start the car. No effect on car running but no resolution. Finally got a call back after almost two months to hear they don't have a solution and won't have one any time soon. at this point they did offer me a refund. Other gripes, Credit for the first ecu took over a month. Tired of hearing their front man's cookie cutter lines. |

Originally posted by Dave B I hope I'll be alright because no one in KC carries 93. 92 is the best I can do. I may get a 2.5 gallon tank and fill it with 102 octane and add it when I run at the track. Assuming I've got about 5 gallons in my tank, the 2.5 gallons of 102 could bring me up to ~95 octane. They don't have 93 anywhere here in WA, and they don't even have 92 in Cali... :gotme: :(

not trying to start any more flame wars but remember my experince??

Damn, I know I'm a bit late. But sorry all that happened. You should have told him to stop get out of the car. You get in to the car. Leave his a$$ standing there while you leave. =P
Anyways, maybe GForce is the way to go. They just have to figure out how to raise that rev limiter and they would have my business. ZuM Originally posted by Turbo95Max not trying to start any more flame wars but remember my experince?? http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....&highlight=JWT |
Unfortunately G-Force has had their share of problems. Too bad they can't figure out how to raise the fuel cut because a lot more people would consider them.

Dave In my area 92 is available just about everywhere, Shell has 93 and Sunoco has 94 but I here bad things about Sunoco and with the stock ECU 93/94 would probably be a waste any way. Until JWT makes a 97+ ECU I guess I don't have to worry about it . I would love that 15 HP midrange gain. |
Aren't octane levels due to elevation? I live in Northern New Mexico where the average evlevation is above 5280', where I live ~5600', I can maybe find 91, but here where I work in Los Alamos where the elev. is 7200', 90 is the best you can get. Down in Albuquerque(~5200') you can get 93.

I have the JWT nitrous set up and i really like it. It was a breeze to set up and have not had much trouble out of it. As far as the ecu upgrade part i dont feel a difference at all. But they seem ok to work with.
