Firestone SZ50 vs Kumho supra 712 >

I got the khhmos last week to replace the Firestones.
The SZ50s were a great tire and they weren't even new when I got them. Great dry traction and great wet weather performance. Stiff sidewalls too. Good tire. Abeit a heavy tire.
Kuhmos. First impression was the sidewalls were not as stiff. They are not as "sharp" when turning(ie.. intial turn-in). Also the dry/wet performance is not as good as the SZ50s, but it is pretty good. Also these felt lighter than the SZ50s. I'm gonna guess that they have less steel belts in the sidewall for stiffness. They also have no curb protectors like the SZ50s did.
Noise: Both are about the same. Both are pretty quiet.
But for the price, I think these 712s are a very good value. They are the newest tire from Kumho. They replaced the older 711s recently. Nice tread design too. For the 235-45-17 size, price was $108 from Discount tire. They honor their internet pricing and several local Discount tire stores had them in STOCK. NOT MAILORDER. Big difference as I needed them in same day.
If you demand, an ultra stickey/stiff tire, these probably will not get you excited. You gotta pay to play for those. I'm curious to see how the some of the lower bridgestones are. Like the RE730s are in this size. Thoughts anyone?
