what's the name of that tool used when replacing rear pads
 

what's the actual name of the tool used when replacing the rear brakes... u know that tool u use instead of the pliers for turning the piston back or somethin? I guess i wasn't specific enough at the auto store so i told em i'd be back w/ a specific name...

any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

lol, i just told em i need "the tool for turning the caliper piston". this was at monument auto parts. so yea.. tell them it looks like a small metal cube or something..

its called a special tool. used for the caliper

Caliper piston tool.

Pliars. Screwdriver. Never needed anything more.

Now how many of you almost messed up your rear calipers not knowing you had to screw them in? Be honest! :)

You wouldnt be able to fit the caliper over the rotor if you didnt screw the piston back in. At least I couldnt, I sat there for like 30 minutes for each caliper screwing them down with needle nose pliers. Such a pain in the butt. Maybe next tiem i should get that caliper tool:laugh:

I use the disc changing tool that came with my disc grinder. it fits in there perfect, and didn't cost me a penny. :)

dan, ill print ure pic and show it to the guy... they just told me to buy a $80 tool set and i was like "uhh i heard this thing is about 5-10 bucks?" and so I left in hopes to find a name for it haha. Ok, ill just go to another kraigen or maybe even autozone or pepboys.

ohhh well there's a disc brake piston tool..it's a small square block w/ pegs on it. that's pretty cheap...5-10 bucks. avail at pep boys and etc.

you stick your 1/2 extension and turn until the piston is all the way in.
