3 days, 24 hours with max, here is what i have... (w/ pix)

accomplished:
- put the stock cat back on
- installed NGK 1 step colder sparks
- painted all 4 brake caliper (black)
- successfully Voxx MGR w/ Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
- 34 psi front, 36 psi back, 80lbs on each lug
- konig center cap + hub ring installed
- ordered OEM lugs and studs

failed:
- accidentally got some paint on the rotor
- front right wheel's 2 studs are broken, only running on 3 lugs
- f*ckin CEL came out for no reason, will check tomorrow

maxima happy with its new shoes!

and of course i'm happy (besides with the broken studs/lugs and CEL! )

btw is it safe to run only 3 lugs on 1 wheel for couple days temporarily? nissan said they won't have my studs in until next wednesday... wat do u guys think

spiff56747 09-13-2003 02:12 AM

i had two lug nuts stolen off my front right wheel... i basically didnt notice until my mechanic told me.. i think it was like that for a week, and i didnt notice any difference in how it drove

happyricefob 09-13-2003 02:23 AM

btw the rims are 20lbs each, tires are 26.4lbs each. very reasonable weight for 17"s. tremendous grip and handling increased, these 712s sticks to the ground very well.

Why in the world are you running one step colder kevin? You don't have nitrous or boost......... I doubt it will change much, but if anything I think you will see a performance loss with that NA. If you have plans for a future nitrous kit, then it makes sense.

hehe...tat's right! still doin more research and readin about it before i actually buy the kit, also lookin for reasonable price so i can jump on it.

but anywayZ, i have 1 question: for a daily driver who doesn't engage nitrous too much w/ 1 step colder sparks, it still consider as a NA car. if so, they have 1 step colder sparks on it. so doesn't that hurt that car even though it has nitrous on it but it's not engagin it?

Nice lookin, dont worry about the paint on the rotors it comes right off when you brake.

meccanoble 09-13-2003 09:38 AM

nice upgrades, nice wheel gap :)

i've rode on 4 studs, never 3...hmm....

I believe what you are trying to ask is if a maxima running one step colder plugs are slower while NOT using nitrous than a comparitivly equiped maxima with stock plugs, the answer is yes. Of course when you hit the laughing gas you will not care about that.

If you are worried about losing power than just go with a smaller shot so that you don't have to change the plugs.

We've seen a big drop in performance when using colder plugs and in some cases adding more than a second to 1/4 times for NA cars.

my friend suggest his old lugs off his MR2, they are supposely to be (high-quality). it turned out that those lugs weren't concaved in, and we put a lot of force on it. so we scraped the studs :(

when my friend gets back from camping i will borrow his digital camera. those pix are taken from my web cam + labtop...
