Warped rotor problem
Have a 96 I 30 with 110K. First off, I don't drive the thing hard nor am I hard on the brakes. Had aftermarket rotors put on the front about 9 months ago and they are now toast. Warped extremely bad.
Should I: put factory rotors back on, if so, where's the best place to get them, besides the dealer? Maybe get softer pads or any other aftermarket rotors you guys suggest? Thanks for you help! |

Thanks Albertt, are these the best replacement pads and discs to go with? How do they compare to factory parts?
Thanks again. |
Theres good reading material here about "Warped Rotors". Read the whole thing, whats happening to you may not be warped rotors, but rather a pad thats not agressive enough or cannot handle the heat you generate when braking. I'm convinced that a slightly agressive pad will avoid brake pulsation problems. It did on my car.

I have often found that 3-4 hard brakes will take care of most accumulation on the rotor. Let the rotors cool off before parking it and you should be more than fine. I am at 100 K KM (60 K miles) on the original rotors, and I brake hard. The rotors were turned once, under waranty, when I didn't know any better. I now run Hawk Streets and have few problems. |

Thanks again. It's really a bang for the buck thing. If you're autocrossing, they might not be enough for you, but don't let all the stoplight racers fool you, you don't need crossdrilled-slotted-Cadplated-cryotreated rotors if all your car sees is the daily commute. |
