Donuts (not the food)
Are donuts bad for our cars?? How much does it throw off the alignment??
Its so tempting with all the snow around to just go crazy with the ebrake in these deserted parking lots :) |
You are going to **** up your axles. RWD cars should only do donuts. The onyl way you could do a donut is going in reverse and then you'll mess up reverse gear.
i hope you dont mean reverse dounuts. otherwise we cant do dounuts cause of fwd, unless you in the snow .
it's possible to do 90 deg and 180 deg spin turns in a FF format, you can't do a true 360 like an FR car can.
In the snow anything can happen because of poor traction.
I once gunned it while on a sheet of ice in a parking lot and hit 110 ... Nothing happened. I do "donuts" and "ebrake" turns in the snow only and no harm done thus far. |
wouldnt snow/ice make it slick enough to do it with little harm? Whipping the car with the ebrake on drive pavement seems like it would be harsh on the rear axel. how else would you do donuts? (not including reverse)
ive been doing donuits on ft.lewis all day long. it should be okay as long as your not on dry ground trying to drift. i think.
If you're doing it in the snow yanking the e-brake, nothing's going to happen (unless you slam into something). I wouldn't advise pulling a Conrad too often (altho I've done it a few times) as that might eventually screw something up...

lol, well if you had donating member status, you could search for threads by ericdwong and "pillow OR tray" and find lots of good stuff. Of course he blew up lots of stuff in the trans. haha :p

I did some of this and it cost me a spindle, lower control arm, wheel bearing and sway bar bushings. The bushings have yet to be replaced. Grand total $500.
i do drifst in the snow, me and my friends set up cones, get going and drift through our course...you just yank the e a little and the *** end slides out, its not really bad for anything :gotme:
Another good thing about playing the snow with ur car is you don't wear your tires out
Oh man was I tempted last weekend to try that...no open parking lots though.:slant:
Spun through 3-gears at a vacant non-cleared intersection though. |
How fast do you guys go when you "drift" in snow?
drifiting in snow is fine because there is no friction, dry pavement is another story........i usually go between 20-60 depending on how much room i have my street is great - its a cud-de-sack........
i go like 30 or so pierce
just dont go ICE to dry pavement... that is hell on a car.

Keep away from curbs too. You don't want to run into one when you think you are in control. :goofy:

its REDICULOUSLY hard to drift in snow, with an awd car... me and my friend take his 2.5rs out in the snow, and i cant do fast drifts, its too hard to control.... :( In the max i go 30-40 and do some crazy huge drifts
and it drives my NUTS when ppl call em DONUTS in a FWD car...you can drift in an fwd car, you can ebrake, or do 180's... but you cannot do donuts in a fwd car unless in reverse, and thats not exacly great for the car... :wall:
and reverse donuts look stupid
yeah and drifting takes more skill, and provides more thrill
and doesnt work on fwd cars... kyle :p
yes it does, thats what the ebrake is for!!!!!! PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF DONT YOU PLAY NEED FOR SPEED!? :wall:
In snow tho, its technically drifting with the ebrake! |
