finally put on the 18's

man it feels good to have some serious traction and handling back.
these are my summer rims with summer tires. it takes a little umph out of the ride but the handling is something you just can't sacrifice when your moving over 100+ mph bridestone pole positions 215/45/18 is any body else running these size tires they dont rub and handle well. i have
a couple more pics at my site http://members.cardomain.com/whoamax

billy_corgan Mar 29, 2004 11:10 AM

you still get good traction even with that thin of a tire? seems kind of small.

maxima105 Mar 29, 2004 01:18 PM

You can tell it's springtime......nice wheels!!!

definitley. they are low profile racing tires very wide and sticky. not for
track though. but a good performance tire on the street. put it this way
with my 17 in tires i can spin tires through first and sec. and with these
it skips and then grabs . and they corner like no other. i put them on a little early because of the meet because they are summer tires and hopefully the snow is done.

 Very wide? 215s arent wide. Their stock sized!

Nice rims though...

Sin Mar 29, 2004 03:54 PM

215? That's stock width. The added performance you're feeling is a stiffer suspension overall (yes sidewall is considered part of the suspension as well) along with the compound.

Nice rims though...

i lowered my car and the stock size that is recommended for my car
will make it rub these are a size in so i can turn hard and sharp without
no sort of rubbing. still those pole positions grip like a muther.

Taken2DaMax Mar 29, 2004 04:19 PM

very nice...

KsuMax Mar 29, 2004 05:06 PM

I like them, and the pic of your engine bay

Maxima95Tuner Mar 29, 2004 05:32 PM

Those look so much better than the chrome 17's on your site. very nice purchase.

metallic97gxe Mar 29, 2004 06:35 PM

nice set up.....

I doubt the "plus 2" upsizing, which would be 235-40/18s would rub. Very doubtful. What you must have is wrong offset then because with a +38 - +43 offset a 235-40 series tire will not rub. Hell, craig mack was running 245-40/18s on his lowered max and it didnt rub.

Also, i was looking at the tire calculator and a 215-45 series tire is TALLER than a 235-40 series tire, so its definately got to be your offset making you rub.

thanks for the comments and advice. i dont think its the offset i just think my car cant handle the g-forces. everything after 140 starts to come apart on my max what do you expect from my old clunker:)

bk2kmax Mar 30, 2004 01:49 PM

CMax, I can see your Max and those rims look tight, can I drive it?

Ammi Mar 30, 2004 03:32 PM

looks good. You should have gotten wider tires though.

Very nice set up... by the way the old chromies looked ALOT better in person than in those pics. I would've hit it up a little wider, I know with 17x7's you can squeeze 235's on there. But then again what would I know, I still have 15's.

You should borrow my sawblades, they held up to 130 on sunday against your old chromies going fast enough to peel off the weatherstripping off your windshield.

happyricefob Mar 30, 2004 04:23 PM

looks nice man

you the man ant. your car hung tight with me i give you credit with that bad a$$ exhaust. you think they would of believe me if i told them i went so fast i ripped the molding and bent it of my windshield. if there was more highway i was gonna pop you with a hundred shot and take one of your doors with me :). and with the rims the way i drive i had to put that size my car completely drops after 140 with the stillen kit and
during some serious maneuvers it rubs. i think my frame cant handle the horse power, beat it up to bad. thank you for all the nice comments and i had a nice time at the meet the max org members were all top of the line and we held it down like champs.

yes and im serious. once you drive it you'll believe me when i say it moves. talk is always cheap without proof and on this org you better prove it or else.

Yea that meet was pretty good. I never thought I'd see a car go fast enough to have that happen......

With that shot I think you would've had a convertible by the time we hit traffic.

And just a reminder, for your own safety... no fat chicks in the car while doing 140, you might end up with 4 flat tires...

maxboogie Apr 1, 2004 06:33 AM

the rims are hot. i saw the car at the meet tires dont look that bad in person but maybe another size up would put the icing on the cake.

i know this set up sucks in bad weather, today its kind of cold and i have no traction slips like ice till they warm up. i hope it warms up soon.thst size you have how does it ride and why did you choose that size.

I like it... it really handles nicely... I got it cause it came with the rims... I got it second hand but with practically new tires... It made the car look higher with the stock suspension... but that was taken care of when I got the GC's

(I'm incompetant with embedding pics so here is a link with the rims and drop)

Thanks CMAX!
Those pics were when I just installed the springs.. I have Ground Control with Tokico blues.. it was a choice between that or progress with agx. I wanted a lower drop than the progress...
