Crazy things you find when cleaning a used car...

Well, I tend to try to keep my car interior fairly clean, not as picky as some but keep it vacuumed, ect. Well today I started working on some stereo install things to pull out my bose system and found some disturbing things. I have had my max since '00 but bought it used and never pulled the rear seat or spair till now. Never had a flat so just checked spair in the well to check pressure and make sure it was in good order. I went to pull the tire out today and it wouldnt come out, it almost seemed like it was glued down, after literally prying on it, I finally got it to pop loose, looks like the previous owner spilt something in the well and the tire was stuck down, this is what I found under the spair...

Then when I pulled the rear seat I found another nice suprise, had to pull the seat to get the rear deck off to change out speakers.

Guess the previous owners kids used the back seat for garbage disposal, nothing like finding out you been driving around with old crackers, pretzels, and melted crayons along with other crap under your back seat for years. Anyways, not really overly informing post, but thought someone would find it amusing, might want to check out what you got lurking in your car if you bought it used :grinno:

Were the crackers still good? :\

Nismo 06-06-2004 09:51 PM

I found a calander of the barbie twins in the spare tire well in a friends car once.

FanaticMadMax 06-06-2004 09:57 PM

:goofy: I never found anything since mine is new. But one car I bought used that I never found anything left behind.

00MAXIST 06-06-2004 10:46 PM

The crackers are worth at least 5 extra horsepower. No one has told you yet?

Matt_NZ 06-07-2004 02:07 AM

Wow, thats disgusting. Makes you wonder about some people :( I once pulled off the back seat (out of curiosity I believe) and found a name tag for the guy who previously drove it (was a company car).

Ladzio 06-07-2004 06:17 AM

Yea, I found lots of shattered glass. Someone must have broken into the car of previous owner or left over from accident...

meccanoble 06-07-2004 06:41 AM

thats VERY nasty....

Matt93SE 06-07-2004 07:14 AM

mine had animal crackers, cheerios, crayons, hair barettes, a barbie head (musta had a girl)!, and tons of mcdoodoos fries.
plus I found a cell phone belt clip thingy under the passenger seat inside the rear seat foot vent! musta knocked it in there when they were vacuuming and forgot about it.

I found a receipt for a flat repair in the owner's manual...good thing is that the mileage was written down, which made me feel good, because it was in-line with the odometer when I bought the car :D

A friend of mine bought a used pickup and found a diamond earring in it while cleaning it.

He didn't think it was real, it was so large, so he set it aside. His father saw it weeks later and had it appraised. Turns out it was a genuine 1 carat diamond, appraised at $5000.

i bet the owner that lost was pretty pi$$ed, good find. The most that i found in the those places were pen, pencil, batteries. Just trash...

Broaner 06-07-2004 01:46 PM

Why would there be a $5K earing in a pick-up? Hmm... Some thugs must have owned it before. Haha. I've found lots of crazy sh!t and its not even used. My mom wasn't the cleanest person though.

Uh, maybe some laying down fun on the benchseat??

Tyrexx 06-07-2004 02:05 PM

I found over $3 in change under my back seat when I did my 6x9's. :)

Sqard 06-07-2004 02:19 PM

Strange....this thread made me curious so I took out my rear seats. SPOTLESS. My other car I bought used had some dirt and stuff in there, not as bad as yours. I always thought my car was in good condition when I bought it, but you could eat off this it was so clean.

Jepht20 06-07-2004 02:27 PM

i thought it was gonna be something grosser. i work at enterprise and i find some really odd stuff wedged in the seats and everywhere. found an empty packet of viagra in a marauder last week...let's just say i decided to do a quick vacuum and to not touch that car after that.

TreeFarm 06-07-2004 02:40 PM

Oh yeah, it could have been much worse :goofy: Till now never had a need to pull the back seat though, every couple weeks might have someone in my back seat is about it, so other then a quick vacuum never figured to clean under it.

schernov 06-07-2004 02:51 PM

I found 20 or so golf T's and 6 Corona caps in spare tire compartment + a score card from some course around Pittsburgh with 85 score on it...:), other than that the car was spotless.

NachoNYC 06-07-2004 06:25 PM

I checked my spare after I purchased the car, and found out the trunk has a leak, and the entire spare well was flooded w/ brown rusted water. Under the backseat were tons of lollypops and candy.

jkklim 06-07-2004 06:35 PM

That is so nasty bro

i30ds 06-07-2004 06:50 PM

I found over 1500 pennies under the trunk lining on my old Acura Vigor. When I first got the i30, I found a small wooden pot pipe in the rear map holder of the drivers seat! Also, in the glove box was the original window sticker for a totally different i30.

Guinader 06-07-2004 06:52 PM

my spare tire had the same flooded brown water. I found out it was a hole the sixe on a pencil dot around the rubbing seal, put some silicon on the hole and I fixed the problem (that all happend 2 weeks ago.

Sure your friend didn't miss anything shiny while looking back there, kinda like an open wrapper... or something like that ;)

A few weeks back, while trying to change my compartment under my HU, I dropped the Phillips bit I was using to screw back in the bracket. I figured it was probably lost since my fingers couldn't reach as far as the gap went, but when I started poking around, I saw something shiny. Problem was, it didn't look like a bit, but more... flat.

Lo & behold, one minute later, I found myself another spare key :goofy:

Scruit 06-08-2004 06:43 AM

I found a 10mm combination wrench and a screwdriver next to the rad of a volvo I used to own. I also found a hide-a-key box under the max... with no key in it. :goofy:

I found about 4 cups of rotted dog food in the spare tire well of my boss' car... He asked me to investigate a "dead-animal smell". It was all rotted and stunk just like two-week-old roadkill... :Puke: "Oh, could you reach in and dig it out for me..." Errrr., how about NO!! :grinno: 'Dude, you don't pay me NEARLY enough for that..."

phenryiv1 06-08-2004 08:18 AM

I found a LOT of white powder under the rear seat and in the spare tire well of my old 96 Max. Turned out to be baking powder.
In a jeep that i bought a few years ago I pulled all of the seats all of the way out to clean it out and I found maggots under the seat rails.

Scope 06-08-2004 08:39 AM

OK I swear on my life to this.

When I was installing my amp and rear speakers I found three hollow tipped bullets, a package of hot sauce, and a small blue pack of brake silencer. I should have taken pics of that.

sagamax 06-08-2004 09:09 AM

i found pens batteries melted m&ms and a lot of candy wrappers. the guy i bought the car from was a big guy so that explains a lot.

skiboarder72 06-08-2004 09:21 AM

i found a hershey kiss! :grinno:
