First of all, a HUGE thanks to Ant95se and his cousin John!
Without their help I would probably still be trying to figure out where all those freaking bolts go.

Thank you very much, Anthony!

Ok, product review. 1st gear is a bit harsh but not that noticeable if you drive like a normal person. (I don't)
2nd is quick and crisp. 3rd is swift and responsive. Cruising in 4th and punching the gas brings the car into a quick responsive downshift to 3rd. Finally!!!

Overall I'm happy with the results.

Word to the wise, if you decide to go this route you would be better off in a shop with a lift.

P.S.
Anybody in NY/NJ needs suspension or performance mod. there is a very capable shop in Passaic that can do the job. Ant95se was good enough to hook me up. Thanks.

did they get it right the first time? oh thats right.. they had enough times to get it right on Ant's Car

 Yep, I heard about that! Good thing for me, everything went smooth as silk. Thanks to Ant, otherwise I'm sure I would be still at it now!

Synki Apr 1, 2001 11:12 AM

 Gee Sprint, i wonder who you are talking about. I think sodaboy left out a O-ring last time.

Alfredo-Sorry i couldnt make it over there. How long did this take? It took us a couple of hours when we did ours. I'm glad you like the mod. Going back to the track to test it? It dropped 1/10 of a sec off my q-mile. You gotta love the quick shifting it provides. :)

Ant-did you do your Y-pipe? :gotme:

NJ95gxe Apr 1, 2001 11:21 AM

Hey Sin, we needed you yesterday. Our hands where all greassy so we could not take any pictures!
It took us all afternoon. We also did my tranny cooler. We took our time. Check twice, do it once! :)

Ant could not wait and put in his Ypipe the nite before. I think he's happy!

Aren't you Ant??

Don in Texas recalibrates the valve bodies (VB) for the 4th gen auto transmissions. He does something with the balls and springs inside of the vb. SOmething no one should do if they know nothing about it. :) What the VB mod does is it eliminates the weak point in auto trannys. The vb makes the trans shift faster and therefore eliminates the weakness. It makes your trans last longer too. The only thing is that you should add a trans cooler b/c with the vb mod, it runs a bit hotter. The VB can take off 1/10-3/10 of a sec off your q-mile. It knocked off 1/10 for me. The VB mod goes for $450 from Don. If you want more info, do a search, there has been plenty of questions asked on this.

wicked1044 Apr 1, 2001 12:53 PM

damn, $450.00 for a 1/10 off your 1/4.. waste of $$$

Waste of $$? Maybe in your mind but tell that to the few hundred people that have it. :p You can battle Don in Texas about that. :)
-You run faster (Varies on mods and car)
-Your car shifts faster
-Eliminates the weak point
-Lets you beat on your trans more
-Trans last longer (That is if you dont over do it)

TO name a few. I personally think its a great mod. When you hear your auto chirp in a Maxima...priceless. hehe. And i didnt have to spend $450 either. ;)

tell me more on how it varies on mods and car
Trans last longer (That is if you dont over do it)
what are you talking about if you don't over do it... lol
the cars feels faster and thats about it...
also if i sell a bunch of stuff here on the org because i hyped it up means it worth the $$$? hmmm.
so your points from above are
-1/10 faster in the 1/4
-FEELS faster
-the last three were repeated over and over...

Sprint Apr 1, 2001 01:34 PM

well wicked i can say one thing the VB mod does that might not be a performance boost..

the Stock Nissan Automatic transmission has been proven to be able to take more boost from a supercharger without a very expensive L10 Upgrade....

Lets see... first off you think what you want, i will think what i want, this was never intended to be a flame but you wanted it so now it starts. You had your share and i had mine. But i can see you would like to drag this so i will too.

Feels faster? It IS faster. I have time slips for as proof.

I do not speak for everyone here with this mod.

You beat on any tranny it dies. I was stating with the VB you can beat on it more. Now-if you have the VB mod, people like to beat on it more b./c they know it can handle it.. now that is what im saying dont over do it. Smart ***. Come to NJ and you will see what it can do. ;)

wicked1044 Apr 1, 2001 02:01 PM

WOW..1/10 faster..
also since you said its a flame post i guess this will be locked... hmmm, but anyway, you said people can beat on their trannys more now with the v.b. no way! says who??? tell that to one of the master nissan mechanics. also whats the overdoing point on it??? i didn't know don was selling it so people can safely put more stress on their tranny...
what happens if people read this post and their tranny dies on them with the v.b.??? does don warrenty a longer lasting tranny?? didn't think so..

Synki: gota a question on what you said about the VB mod making your trans last longer but yet runs a bit hotter and a tranny cooler is needed. Why is it running hotter and isn't heat the number one source of transmission failure? I'm just curious cause UsuallY higher heat temp doesn't go too well with longevity. If it's true that the life of tranny with Don's VB mod will be extended and the additional heat is just somehow a by product then the $450 price tag Definitely becomes more justifiable. Thanks!

It made ME 1/10 faster. Others have gotten more out of it then i have. Yes people "beat" on their transmissions. That measn they like to step on it more. Is that too hard for you to comprehend? Fu*k the dealership. Can you say rip off? Guess not. Over doing it? That means people let it get to their head. Must i break it all down for you? Are you stupid? I never said Don made this so people can beat on their trannys. The VB was intended for people who want their trans to last longer and handle more power. If that is what you think, then there are a few hundred of us suckers here then. Where are you dragging this to? What are YOU trying to prove?

If it sucks, then tell everyone it sucks, make a new thread and tell everyone how much teh VB mod sucks and is a waste of money. Do it! What are you waiting for? You feel that i am wrong so do it. So instead of tryin to be nice, you would rather be a ****. Maybe ecause you know everything.

wicked1044 Apr 1, 2001 02:27 PM

so your saying its ok to beat on the tranny more with the v.b and the nissan guys are stupid...
also you are so good in defining things that everyone knows.. congrats to you..lol
i just saying it isn't worth the 450.00 for 1/10 off your time..
also it heats up your tranny so where did you see it increasing the life??? a tranny cooler is recommened buddy, so what does that tell you...
you want me to post the v.b sucks?? lol... people have stated that before...
i have even spoke with guys that have it and they say it is nothing special...
they just didn't want to post it because of guys like you wanna to start debate...
by the way, nice wheels...

DA-MAX Apr 1, 2001 02:38 PM

I don't know if this helps, but......

hers is a read up from Trans-GO. Their kit works on the same priciple as Don's mod, except it is a little milder, but for the doubters of quicker shifting = longevity, maybe you should read this----> Click!

Is that sarcasm about the wheels? I dunno where you get off on this. BTW, I did the post for you already, thanks. :D Yes the VB mod makes it run hotter, why? :gotme: No sh*t a tranny cooler is recommended. That is b/c it runs hotter. That is why a tranny cooler is used. They can think it sucks all they want. You may continue on this but as far as me, im happy with my VB. You hate it, that is great!

So your telling me $450 for 1/10 off a q-mile sucks but you paying $800 for a ECU upgrade and you dropped only 2/10 is any better?

You know, i always thought as your sig pic was nice and all and had respect, but now look where this went. Respect? It went down bye bye. Prolly wouldnt be pretty if we bumped into each other at a meet.

Thank you Da-Max. :)

Maybe we should have Don state his feelings about this then huh?

wicked1044 Apr 1, 2001 03:33 PM

whos paying 800.00 for a chip??? no me...

wicked1044 Apr 1, 2001 03:41 PM

so now your saying the v.b needs the tranny cooler to help the tranny out?? i also never said i hated anything, thats great isn't it... lol
whos has a chip here???
also respect?? on an internet board??? pleaseee, the only way to get respect from anyone is to know them...
it wouldn't be good for who if we met??? you??
look at you getting at upset over something i said...

You dont have to say anything. You've done enough. But your cool man, can i be like you? Im rough and tough and i have no friends. Why dont you try to make some next time. You couldnt even be civilized. Where you not the one who bought a G-Force ECU? Notice i said ECU, not Chip. Good one. Your a true winner. I'm not getting upset. I dont get mad. :D So what are you tryin to prove again now?

Don in Texas Apr 1, 2001 04:19 PM

If you only dropped 1/10th either you're not consistent, or your tranny had some issues to begin with. For anyone to compare to another run and make statements about a product, the conditions, driver, weight of vehicle, fuel, ambient temp, track temp and track conditions and RT would have to be EXACTLY the same each Run.

My car is VERY consistent, I can assure you this mod lowers ET by 4-6 tenths. If you are buying just to shave your ET by 1/10th I wouldn't buy it either.

You'd have to be stoned to not realize the increase in performance with this mod...1/10th...only if there was a problem to begin with either driver or car.

If you don't have first hand knowledge of the product you are evaluating (or just guessing), it doesn't make any difference what the opinion is, does it.

If you don't feel this modification is for your car, or don't think its worth the $$ or can increase the life of your tranny, don't buy it. :)

dearest stupid,
sorry but you should check yourself before you say something. i didn't buy a ECU (i saw how petty you were when you brought up ECU not CHIP in your last post)

1/10 is all i got, but like you said, it varys fromn everything. Knocking off 4-6/10s? That is a bit high for me. I dont have any trans problems at all, or even after.

Ya know, I was tryin to help Don out and say its worth it but i cant even get help outta that. :slant:

You also have to realize that we arent all pros like you Don. After all, you are what everyone wants to have, your max. :)

hey Don if you didn't notice he was trying to help you there is no reason that you should be putting him down like that.. and maybe this is why wicked is attacking your product...

I'm not putting anyone down. I'm just stating facts that I can back up, and can tell you that if you've consistently run your car and run it again several times under the VERY SAME CONDITIONS and only gained a 10th, there is something wrong. There's no other way I can say it.

I always appreciate feedback of any kind (positive or negative), but only if you have actually experienced the modification. NOT if you haven't. :)

Have a good weekend!

1MAX2NV Apr 1, 2001 07:23 PM

There are several people's auto tranny didn't last over 50K miles on this board. Jose and I30krab just the two that popped into mind. Talk to any good tranny rebuild shop and ask how many auto maxima they had rebuild that was under 100K miles. The best protection you can get for your auto tranny is a tranny cooler and change your ATF every 30k miles.

wicked1044 Apr 1, 2001 08:13 PM

chip=ecu. didn't you know that??
also if the v.b. makes 4-6/10 off your 1/4 time it is worthwhile... but in your case it wasn't worthwhile for some reason....
