For people that's lowered how did your max handle in the snow?
 

we just had a snow storm today in NJ which have at least 6-10'' and i had a hard time driving home....really couldn't get traction at all which i almost got stuck like a block from my apt....my car is lowered with maxspeed/kyb gr2's for my 00 which i think contribute to it....anybody else have hard time beside me?

I just drove around the block and I almost got stuck like 5 times, my car handles like garbage in the snow.

Are you by any chance running the Blowtenzas? I drove around in the snow before with my Falkens and I didn't have many problem, except when I hit the brakes to late and was sliding for a while.

i have aftermarket 17' on now with continental conti performance tires...

I am buying winter tires , this morning i had to cancel doctor's appt, all because Falkens 512 totally blow in fresh unplowed snow.

I can't see how it could make any difference unless you need the clearance...the traction problem is most likely your tires.

well this is my first snow storm with these continental....i guess they suck in the snow....

I thought those were good tires. Maybe they're summer tires?

Is this a thread about the Falkens or about lowered Maximas in the snow? My car handles no differently in the snow this winter than it did last winter before it was lowered (had 512's on both winters). Only difference I see is that more snow builds up in the wheel wells.

:sprint: you are totally correct....I was almost stuck because of these tires...I am definately looking for another set of tires and winter rims because 512s are :igor&donk in the snow

Oh...and other than tire traction...the max did pretty well overall...being lowered has no effect on drivability in the snow...:nupe500:

I hate freakin snow........I'm so tire from shovling snow in my driveway......anywayz......my Max is lowered wit Tein Stech/KYB GR-2's and riding on Sumitomo HTR+ which is pretty good on snow......I was impressed with these tires......it was skidding but it wasn't that bad enough to get stuck......

I'm lowered on Tokicos and I haven't had any problems yet. I have Kumho 716 HP4s and they are great in the snow! We recently got about 8 inches, and the only time I noticed the reduced clearance was when entering a street that hadn't been plowed, from one that had been (big bank from the snow plow).

I was fuggin' Mr. Plow for the day :rolleyes:

i thought the tires had more to do with it than being lowered...i guess i'll have to deal with it.. :hmmph:

i was thinking more on the "Mr. Plow" guy from a Simpson's episode.

It's a pretty simple concept. Tires affect traction and lowering affects clearance. I suppose if your camber is REALLY out of spec after lowering, it could also affect traction.

I have Sumitomo HTR+s and I'm not lowered. Most of the problems were on the local streets where there were mounds of fresh snow that I couldn't get over. On the highways, I was ok. A little skitish but not like some other cars I saw out there. The part I would be concerned with after I get lowered would be the mound of snow in between tracks.

This is not true the Falken 512's do excellent in the snow yday i only got stuck in really deep snow but in terms of traction they did excellent also if you go to think about it only your front wheels are spinning to get out so there isint much to play with there

I beg to differ on them being excellent in the snow...you may be the only one that owns them that would say that. I heard that prior to my purchasing them, and did so regardless...but Hey...to each his own..how much snow did you get in MD? we got about 12" here but it sucked for traction coming up a hill with about 3"

according to my tape measure it said 7 Inches and they did good didint spin out at all of course in deep snow nothing will help you except 4x4

i guess my max did alright in the snow. the lowering has no effect, its all tire. and i must say my toyos have seen their better days, i have very little tire tread left, im hoping its enough to get me through the rest of the winter.

Somebody knows what their talking about! Ride height really has nothing to do with traction in the snow, it's all about your tires. Anybody who drives in the winter with Z rated performance tires is asking for trouble. My buddies G35 coupe, equipped with Blizarks all around was actually fun to drive yesterday. It tracked excellent in the snow. My BMW with Sumitomo HTR+ tires also had no problems yesterday with traction in the snow.

Max hasn't moved yet, he was washed the other day and I'm trying to keep it clean for as long as possible. :nervous:

I just left my car covered and used my moms altima until the snow stopped.....

lowering has nothin to do wit traction but if the snow lifts up the front of your car then u cant get the wheels to have traction.

My max on Eibach's handles decent in snow, as I am on some Continental Viking SnowTech tires.

My Max isint that great in the snow, with the D2's as low as they are now, I just sucessfully plow my way around, I have yet to get stuck where I cant get it out unless I get out the car. Im running Falken 512's on 17inch wheels, and have 1 16inch wheel w. Michelin MXV4 tire on the front left (flat tire from a month ago).

Mine has been doing surprisingly well for having 75% worn Dunlop SP Sport A2's. I'm not lowered. But the biggest problem is a lightweight car (3000-3100 lbs) with relatively wide for the weight 215 tires on it. That and no traction control. Our Highlander rocks! :D My Accord definitely did better than my Maxima. That was a 3329lb car with 205 tires, traction control, and not enough low-end torque to really spin the wheels anyways. :shiner: Of course, dry handling in my accord sucked royally compared to the Max. Much more car (weight) to turn with floppy 205/65/R15 tires, vs 300lbs less in the Maxima with wider 215/55/R16 tires.

What a bunch of pansies! On my stock 15's and damn near 2" drop my car handled beautifully in the snow.. no traction issues whatsoever. Clearance problem yes.. even without a lip I was getting snow into the lower part of my bumper in front of the radiator.

Sounds like you need new tires.

mine sucks, but I doubt it is because of my suspension. More because my tires are crap and it has alittle too much power.

handles great with Eibach's, KYB-AGX, 2002 17" and Bridgestone Re-92's. At least until I get to an unplowed section and then I can feel the underside scraping which sucks.

I HATE THE NORTHEAST AND THE SNOW. I am escaping to the west coast next year thank god.

My 19" x 8 1/2 toyo proxes have better traction in the snow than my stock 17's

Keep in mind that his VE has the same horsepower as your VQ. You have a little more torque, but only slightly more.

my car had better traction sunday morning in the snow than my cousin's Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4x4 FULL Mode
