OK - I wrote a few weeks ago about getting a speeding ticket at 116mph. I lucked out on the ticket b/c I had been going much faster than that, so really 116 wasn't that bad - but I am 16. The worst part of it was my parents. Now to me, I was more concerned with losing my license (It was 51 over, check your driver's manual, that is minimum 90 day suspension) then any of the fines or insurance. After a ton of research I found the best possible lawyer I could here in town for traffic court - I gave him the ticket, explained the situation and he told me not to go to court. Well, I am out of court now, I don't know how it went b/c my parents don't want me to know (just to keep my friends from going that fast - you follow?) and the only thing I got was a $376 bill from the lawyer which includes the ticket if I got one. I still have my license, and my insurance didn't go up - so I believe that nothing happened, that it got dismissed in court. I had no excuse or plea, but somehow having an awesome lawyer helped - I would definately suggest getting one if you were going to be in the kind of trouble I was (I also had someone in the car with me when I got pulled over so I could have had attempted manslaughter charges (for 45+ over the speed limit w/ someone in the car) - I am glad it is over! Just thought I would let you all know what happened in court after I talked about my ticket earlier...

Yeah, in most cases, all you need is money and you're home free. One of my lawyers charges a flat fee of $200 bucks for tickets 25 mph and under (mine was 24 over). He goes to court for you and gets it dismissed. Clean record! :D It's all about who you know and how much money you got.

Good. Hope you've learned a lesson from all this. nm

I was saying the exact same thing in the other speeding ticket thread --- hire an attorney. Agreed.
