HELP!! 1995 won't start
So today I thought I would do a tuneup on my car that has 181000 miles on it. So I replaced the starter and spark plugs to start... well after I did that I could not get the car to start. It cranked and the RPM's would reach about 300 but it never started. Occasionally there would be a sort of grinding sound and the RPM's would jump but then come right back down. Well I tried this until my battery was dying. I figured I could get a jump to start it but now the car just makes a click sound and doesn't even try to crank. so here I am without a car that starts and it won't even try. It did start to smell flooded so I waited 15 minutes after I smelled it but nothing changed. I put in stock heat range NGK V-powers and a remanufactured starter from Autozone. I am lost, please help.
