Hood won't stay up.

My hood closes when a good breeze comes along. Can the hood support pistons be adjusted for more resistance?

Thanks.

Heh, right now I keep mine up by wedging a big *** screwdriver in top of the strut tower and against the fire insulation under the hood.

Ghetto, but otherwise my hood just slams right down. Really should go out and buy some new shocks for it...oh well.

O.K., dimwitted comments aside, is it possible to ask a simple question on this forum and get a simple answer?

you got your answers, it cant be adjusted and they suck and always break. most of us make our own props that are inexpensive and do the job.

Hood Trouble

That must be a common problem; I spent several minutes looking for a rod to prop the hood up like I had on my old Honda, just refusing to believe those two small piston/shock thingies would ever be able to hold up that large hood. Obviously, they don't hold it up for long. If I didn't know any better, I would think they're just trying to sell more of them. Give me the old hood rod; they don't wear out.

Makeshift hood post

I used two sections of plastic vacuum cleaner conduit (light and strong).

just prop it up or vicegrip it. once the stock hood struts go it's pretty much over. the stock replacements are expensive and the strongarm aftermarket ones go belly up in six months if you're lucky.

FameMax Dec 18, 2005 11:55 PM

That happened to me in my 96, but it was only in the cold weather. Wear and tear my friend, replace or get a prop. Could be alright in the spring/summer
