I just bought a set of 20's for a 99 Maxima..

I just purchased a set of 20's Axis Milano to be exact. I believe the owner of them said they had a 20mm offset, I was wondering what that means. I know most maxima's usually run a 35mm offset. However, he had them on a newer 350z, I was wondering if they will fit fine, or I will be running into problems. If you could help me out, that would be awesome! Thanks! Have a good New Year!

Nismo Dec 28, 2005 06:07 PM

20mm, that just means that they stick out 15mm more than a 35mm offset wheel would.

Depending on the width of the rim, size of the tires, and if you are lowered or not, they may stick out.

DukeDuke Dec 28, 2005 08:49 PM

It is a 1999 Maxima SE the rims are 20x8.5 and it isn't lowered at all. I just don't want it to look ghetto by sticking out real bad on the sides. I just didn't know how bad the offset would be. Does anyone have a picture of their rims with a 20mm offset?

Ha ha, yeah man, thanks, you will see me cruisin around town I am sure. I really wanted your ES-V's, but I wanted something larger than an 18.

DukeDuke Dec 28, 2005 10:01 PM

They are going to stick out a little in the front..... if the tires are streched on them they might not look too bad. They should be less than an inch out in the front, I think the rears will be about flush with the fender. Look at the pics under my sig... the dbl 6 spokes are 8.5s +40 with 255/40/17s the ones in the sig are 9s +34 with 255/40/17s.

20's are already ghetto on a max, and then with 1" of it sticking out, its even more ghetto.

red-line-racer Dec 30, 2005 06:48 PM

its just over kill to me :tardsmash

shavedmax Dec 30, 2005 06:56 PM

20mm will stick out, not a ton, it's about 15 mm, approx 1/2", but that's depending on the width of the wheel. i have 20x8.5 35mm and they fit perfect. the do rub on the splash shield a little on turns though where it bulges out on the backside

All right thanks for your quality input shavedmax. Maybe I will get those fender extenders that you mold on.

s0ber Jan 2, 2006 10:00 AM

ew to fender extenders.

Fr33way™ Jan 2, 2006 06:44 PM

ew to 20's with the 4x4 suspension...

To each his own, but the thing is gunna look massive.

irish44j Jan 2, 2006 07:47 PM

IIRC on a 4th gen 35mm is flush with the front fender on an 8" wheel. On a 5th gen 30mm is flush. With a 20mm offset, you will be sticking out in front, and may have some significant rubbing problems in the back.

Since you already purchased these wheels, it's a moot point though - so best of luck with the fitament.

i would sell the wheels and put the money towards a set that fits, if they are that bad. no sense in molding flares and repainting the car. itll cost more than new wheels

so true:thumbsdow enjoy them though:mardi:

IMHO, I think that 18's with the HR drop is the most aggressive I would do on the max. I have the HR drop but still have the stock wheels. I never updated my sig to show my drop that i got last april

Iron Scimitar Jan 17, 2006 01:36 PM

i pray for your brakes if you haven't already upgraded them.

:sprint: Go get your bling on! 20's on a 4th gen look horrible IMO. 20's are kinda like spandex. Just cause they make it in your size doesnt mean its ok to wear it.

It's a good thing you researched to see if the rims would fit/rub/look decent before you bought them..........:hide:

shavedmax Jan 18, 2006 04:18 PM

im glad people are still reading a thread that means mothing a month later. i'm sure there's a reason why he hasnt posted back. if he f'd up, and they dont fit, oh well. if they do good for him. i think the thread can be closed now.
