fender bender story damn!!

So anyways me and the Gf were driving to Orlando this morning and we were stuck in some heavy traffic bumper to bumper ave speed of 10mhz, she was drivng not paying attention and hit a 97 accord in fornt of us. We pulled over assessed the damge slight mar on my font bumper and a lil chip of of their. We didn't call the cops bc we wer in a hurry to get to Epcot anways anyone know what the most it would cost to get that scrapped paint chip fixed on theri 97 accord we hit. Bc we're not gonna go through insurance I just wanted ur guys oppinions bc i don't want to get ripped off since we're paying out of pocket. I don't think the 97 accord has any sensors in the rear bumper so i think its just the rear bumper and rear bumper support and rear bumper cover.

What do u guys think would be reasonable or the most I should pay them until its them scamming me.

thanks and was it a bad idea we didn't get the cops involved?

That gave me a headache reading that.

I would say it wasn't a bad move in not calling the cops as your girlfriend would have gotten a ticket for it and then your insurance would increase. Just keep your eyes wide open so you don't get milked by them, ask to see a quote from a body shop rather than some figure they tell you. Next time, don't let your girl drive your car.

unfortunatley i dont have pics, we forogt to take pics my dumbass fault. But we just chipped the paint sporatically throughout a 4 feet contact area on their rear bumper. but the bumper wasn't bent in just marred and chipped paint?

i jsut dont want them calling me tonight and demanding like 1000 bucks for chipped paint i am trying to settle this without insurance.

I got $760 from the person's insurance when I was rear ended last year. I had to replace the bumper cover and the energy absorber beneath it. I bought the parts, had the cover painted and installed them at home. I pocketed $150.

It really doesn't matter what they do with the money if you are admitting liability. They don't have to use it to repair the car unless they want to. Just hope they don't try to bone you on the estimate. Next time you should call the police. They might try to sue you for injuries along with the repair bill.

I have a very similar story, and now i am not sure what to do to fix my damages. I think i need a new front bumper to fix the hole that is now there? unless there is an alternative? custom grill (trenz) i don't think will cover this up will it? i will try and insert the picture if doesn't work follow link.

THANK YOU FOR ANY IDEAS

generally paint will not "chip" on a bumper cover unless there was body filler underneath it or it was painted w/o a flex additive, even then it would flake off & there would be little/no dmg to the bumper cover.

worst case u have to buy a new bumper cover (Aftermarket from Keystone or a remanufacture) would probably run $250 and paint would be another $100-$150.

Total dmg should be less than $500...

and don't let them tell you they need to blend the paint to the sides...b/c you can't match paint exactly with two different materials that the paint is being applied to.

Hope this helps!

I wouldn't want to pay more then $200. The bumper is good it's just a paint that need to be repainted, I mean that's what they would want to do. I say no more then $200-300, it shouldn't take more then that to paint the bumper.
I had similar story with my max. I hit old 91 cadilac before pretty lightly, and the guy was asking for like $1000+ for the parts. I was like you crazy your old cadi cost around $3000 and he wanted me to pay that much. The guy still wanted me to pay the price. I said screw this and reported it to my insurance. Ohhh yeah I didn't pay anything since the guys didn't have his insurance when that happended. hahahaha poor guy had to spend his money for dameges.
