Hey guys, I have a question, i have a 1998 maxima, as i was speeding down a long strech of road trying to see how fast my car would go, as soon as i hit 120mph, it felt like the engine cut out, the RPM's droped a few thousend and so did my speed, then after a few seconds and me saying "WHAT THE ****?!" it hit 120 again and the same thing happenned. Is there a dist cap that kicks in at 120, and if so, how can i take it off? Thanks in advance!

What happened was your limiter kicked in and cut your fuel off. Are you auto or 5 speed?

Any 5 speed or auto w/o teh C&C (convience and comfort) package is limited between 112-120mph. This is only with the GXE's.

Any SE or GLE is not limited. Well... only drag limited.

I hope this clears it up.

Actually, i have a auto GLE...

the limiter...

is built into your ECU (computer), the only way to get rid of it is to upgrade to an aftermarket ECU.

Good luck,

Justin

You sure you have a GLE? We haven't found another GLE around here with a limiter.

Ha, yes im sure, it is a GLE...

It could that your car was re-badged. Like Mesonic said we haven't seen one GLE with a limiter. The only reson that the limmiter is actually there is because the base GXE comes with H rated tires rated for 110-120 MPH.
