Things that **** you off about your maxima!

Don't get me wrong, I love my maxima to death, but there are some things about it that **** me off beyond belief. Feel free to air your maxima pet peeves here!

1. I have a 6-speed TE with those metal pedals. They look cool, but when it rains, beware... When I get in the car, the bottoms of my shoes will be wet from the rain, and when I go to press the clutch in... SLIP!!! My foot slips off the clutch and the car jerks like a motherfreaker. And this will happen until the water dries up. I hate that! I gotta make sure i carry paper towels to wipe off the bottoms of my shoes to dry them before I start driving

2. When I'm in first or second gear at low speeds (say 2nd gear at 20 mph) and I let off the throttle, the car will jerk. I can't stand that! Why!? I heard it was because of the drive by wire throttle... but what's the freakin point!? A quicker throttle response? Give me a .324 second slower response from a cable throttle if it means being able to take my foot off the gas without that gotdamn jerk!

3. What the hell is up with this freakin turn radius on the 5.5 gens? I swear I could turn a tractor trailer better than this gotdamn thing. I was coming from owning a 5th gen, expecting everything was the same... so I go to make my daily u-turn at the end of my block, and... SURPRISE! I almost hit a parked car! I had to re-configure my whole u-turn judgment. I'm still mad that I can't cut those quick u-turns that most cars can.

So needless to say, I'm having a pretty bad day when it's raining, and I'm driving slow while making constant u-turns...

maybe we can try sawing off streering stoppers and that'd help with turning radius

I was thinking about that yesterday at the gas station.

The turning radius on my 4th gen is so annoying. I don't know if it's as bad as the 5th gen but it feels like I'm driving a freaking truck when I have to turn around. In fact, I compared my car to my friend's 2008 Ford Ranger. My car is longer. What's up with that?

and then the rear stock subs ohhhhhhh boy im not gonna get into that

but the list can go on and on

Not enough aftermarket support. You can buy anything for a POS Honda, but try building a Maxima. While I love Matts stuff (Blehmco) and am glad for Catts, WSP and Truax, there isn't much out there. You always seem to have one or two choices and that's it.

It is too damn big to fit into a lot of parallel parking spots (I no longer have a parking spot so this is important). I drive by at least 40% of spots that a lot of cars can fit into, but my car is literally as long as (to the inch) or longer than the spot. Of course, the average person is a complete retard afraid of being embarrassed, so I get a lot of spots that other smaller cars fail to get into.

No equal length headers besides Cattmans ($$$). I don't want to spend $2k on an exhaust for a $4k car. The car sounds like complete fawking *** without equal an length y pipe.

As for the throttle response/jerking comment, that is natural in any car with a manual transmission and a decent-size engine. Roll off the throttle gradually or depress the clutch (and learn to engage it again smoothly) and it will not happen.

That I didn't have outside temperature display, ABS, heated seats, side airbags.... Oh, wait, I took care of that by buying a '99.

That it only has 190 crank HP but I want 300 WHP. Oh, never mind, I already took care of that.

That the car doesn't have navigation, tilting headrests, an auto dim compass/temperature mirror, a '96-exclusive center console cup holders, fuzzy pillars, the e-brake and center armrest aren't leather, the back seats don't fold, the car doesn't handle well enough................ wait, I already fixed all these things.

Never mind, there is nothing I don't like about my car.

Smartazz

You missed one.... You wish the Maxima came with a gear selector indicator in the instrument cluster for your Auto......And yes, I know you are taking care of that 'little' problem too.

I dislike how I have mad torque steer in third gear.....

Seriously though, I can't think of any complaints at the moment.... I'll have to think about this one for a minute.

You guys are forgetting the most irritating thing about the 4th gen, the fact that if you have anything in your left pocket, it will open the trunk when you're driving down the road. Other than that, I love everything about my 4th gen, sure it could be faster, but I've never had a car that I love as much as my 98 GLE. 202K and I still enjoy driving it 100miles a day to work and back.

ummmmmm it needs to make me more money so I can buy more parts for her. Other then that the no cup holders and I would say "rear beam" but 2nd gen doesn't have that (had to rub it in a bit)

oh yea weak input shaft bearing
and no aftermarket parts

a)I agree to that!! Plus the front fenders...or the rust in general with my Max. Its a never ending battle that I am losing. Oooooo it pisses me off! (OCD FTL)

b)The sound of my 3.0 (even with the MEVI), esp when compared to a 3.5 or a VR6.

c) The fact that no matter how hard you try, (and how many times you try) you cant make the bumpers match the car if they've been repainted. (Mainly the sterling mist or pebble beige cars.)

Lol at the trunk pop comment. I can't even count how many times I accidentally popped the trunk.

This's a serious problem for me. I never thought I'd keep my car for 6 years and 220,000 miles. It just keeps going and going. And since repairs are so (relatively) affordable, it doesn't make financial sense to upgrade right now. WTF? I really do get frustrated about this point.

Things I don't like about my Maxima:

1.) No audible chirp or anything that says I locked it, plus if a door isn't shut all the way it wont lock.

2.) The horn sounds like I have a dying rabid baby chipmunk stuck in my wheel well

3.)The fact that at only 170,000 miles every single bearing in my transmission is closer to death than a 90 year old 350lb diabetic munching on a Twinkee.

4.) That my auto climate control has an ambient temp function but no way to use it

Other than that, I love the car to death.

hmm where should i start...

1. sometimes i get this rattling chain sound when accelerating especially around 1800-2400rpm
2. loud fan noise when a/c is on...my dad's ford explorer is so quiet when a/c is on.
3. rattling in dash and sunroof when going over bumpy roads.
4. wide turning...i can't even make a uturn on my street while my dad's ford explorer can make a turn plus room to spare =/
5. i get crappy gas mileage
6. a lot of road and wind noise
7. stiff ride...when i hit a bump or pot hole car will feel like it's gonna pop
8. stupid trunk floor sags no matter how i position that board thing
9. rear seat isn't that comfortable...headrest area too short and roof too low.
10. cd skips with the bose
11. when window is rolled down half way or slightly opened, when you close the door it sounds like it's gonna break and glass shakes. my old accord never had this problem.
12. stock xenon headlights are ok but doesn't go far...not as good as toyota/lexus ones.
13. fog light lense cracks easily
14. a lot of vibration when driving...hard to explain but i feel it everywhere =(
