SMT LED's?

Has anyone here had experience with soldering SMT LED's and/or wiring them into a 12volt circuit? My reason for asking it because I have 1000 of them lying around in a superwhite color temp and wanted to possibly use them for a license plate lamp or maybe some new reverse lights in the rear tails. It will take some time because they are virtually microscopic but they are bright as can be when lit up. I have experience with 3mm & 5mm LED's/resistors but I am not sure how to wire up these puppies.

If there is a will there is a way. Go to local electronic store and buy a pre slotted Printed circuit board and go nuts. But then again I imagine it would be difficult to fit it in the tail lights and all and plus it wouldn't be water proof for the licence plate...

The electronics store here have strips of smd leds, its a roll, super bright and pretty cheap

Thats what I have. got em from ebay. They look like a miniature strip of microfilm.

My buddy just redid my dome light with them. They look great, and are very small compared to the output given. I'll see if he can post up.

You need to get the correct data sheet for the LEDs you have so you can spec out the resistors.

One thing to remember: SMD LEDs are NOT weather resistant, like 3/5mm LEDs. They will absorb moisture and fail in short order if you do not weather proof 'em.

Well the package says....SMD SMT 1206White LED
IV=1500 Vf=3.2-3.6
Model number=JL1206-W140-W1500

Its a 100 pk. of LED's with 100 resistors provided also.
