I'm really beginning to think that modding my car is a waste of $$ ...

The more I think about it ... the more I think it's a huge waste!!!

I'm considering parting my car completely & bringing it back to stock ... what're your thoughts?

maybe i'm in my wishy - washy stage ...

u know what it is? I've been getting free issues of Max Power & Euro Tuner which are both euro car mags ... dayamm .. those cars look nice ...

take a look @ my mods ... should I sell?

i mean .. the new altima bone stock will kick my a$$ ... this is depressing ....

There will ALWAYS be a car faster than you. If you let it get the best of you, you will never be happy.

f&ck .. i know ... da-yamm ...

Greg's2kGLE Nov 5, 2001 05:19 PM

No don't sell all of your mods.....just "donate" them to me :D

PhatGuy Nov 5, 2001 05:19 PM

I'm limiting my mods to bolt on only. Stuff that can be taken off and stock stuff be put back on easily. Even the clear markers and aftermarket bulbs I have can be sold. Tint, chrome guage rings and stuff that can't really be resold I'm staying away from. I have cattman y-pipe, stillen intake with some custom air tube, sts, rsb, fstb, H&R, 4 clear markers and bulbs throughout. All of which can be sold so there isn't a total loss. I'm upgrading my brakes with new rotors and pads. I can even sell the new rotors down the line. Get a NOS kit if you want more power. Get a Euro ride if you want interior cosmetics altough IMO the Q45 has the nicest interiors I've seen in a while.

Dave B Nov 5, 2001 05:23 PM

Yep, you'll never be happy. Your car should be able to run mid 14s the way it sits...assuming you are a good driver. I too get the itch to get something faster, but everytime I go to the track, I realize how quick my NA V6 really is. The only other 4-doors at my track that can run with or outrun me are the Pontiac GTPs. And believe me, most people can't drive like the mags can drive. If I had a nickel for every MODDED car I saw run much slower than what the mags get, I'd be a very rich man. Yesterday I watched a guy run a 15.8, 15.9, 16.0, and 15.4 in a WRX in 70 degree weather. I also saw a ton of modded LS1 F-Bodies run lots of 14+ second passes. BTW, I ran a 14.75.

If you want speed, you got to go with domestics. With their V8s, you should be in the 13s already stock! However, no matter how fast you get, you can bet there will ALWAYS be someone faster. That's how it is.

Synki Nov 5, 2001 06:23 PM

I sometimes feel the same way. I am never satisfied with any of my mods. They either arent right or dont turn out how i want it. If you want a fast car, gotta get a car that is fast stock. :) I have my doubts about my Max but there are times i am happy that i bought it.

max7 Nov 5, 2001 06:34 PM

There will always be someone faster. If you spend a few thousand dollars you will get an s/c. This will allow you to beat many cars. The maxima is a great car with good potential, remeber it's not a lot of money to buy this car either. Trust me, you don't want to buy a V-8 domestic. Unless you like to visit the machanic often.

Also people have to pick a class to be good in like theblue(Aaron) could possibly have the fastest NA Max with VERY few bolt-ons. Hell, I still have the same engine he has and it pulls hard with no mods also. I can't wait til I get a y-pipe.

BTW, a S/c is a time consuming thing to put on and off.

I am in the process of de-modding now. I with as much as I travel, I miss the quietness of my stock max.

just think how nice your car will look with the rims on... once you get all your stuff on your car... you'll love it... just don't buy anything else for your car for a while... you've spent a lot in a short ammount of time and that is what is really bothering you.

I'm going down to visit my bud in Ithaca on Dec.5 .. I'll leave TO right after work ... maybe we can hook up on my way down or on my way back up to TO? What's your schedule looking like?

NJ_MAX2000 Nov 5, 2001 08:05 PM

Hey man, you have to look at it from a different angle.

Your car is like your wife or your girlfriend: at some point, you made a commitment to it and now you have to live with it. You put your half into the relationship, and she'll put in her share. Similarly, you mod your car, and she'll give back in performance and looks. Sure there will always be hotter girls (faster, prettier cars), but do you necessarily give up the commitment you've made to your girlfriend/wife and hook up with a new girl just cuz she's prettier? Similarly, you shouldn't just get down on your car every time a newer faster car comes along, it's a fact of life. Just ride the car out until you can get another one, but enjoy your car while you have it.

CoolMax Nov 5, 2001 08:11 PM

Now that it feels like my Eibach/Tokico setup is beating the hell out of me...I believe that visual mods are the best way to go.
Of course, if I were to get another Maxima...I'd surely get a Y-pipe.

Auto. My problem with the auto is the shifting and clutches. The take off in first is killer. Even at Maxus, I was able to take off and hang with the 5th Gen autos but when we hit the top of 2nd gear is when I would slowly get left due to the HP difference. I also sucked with my launches(2.6 60' times).

Asian_N02 Nov 5, 2001 10:24 PM

i think you should demod and hook us other org members up!!! :D

NYCe MaXiMa Nov 5, 2001 10:47 PM

Craig Mack said it best.. There will always be cars faster then you... Look at the riceboys, they run 17s w/ mods and don't let it get them down, instead they are still buzzing around happy and proud :D

I am modding my car for looks, handling and comfort.. not SPEED. I don't have a race car, nor do I race much, if at all... racing just gives your car a beating and will lead to more $ being dumped into repairs.... So you'll be loosing $ twice, 1st buying the go-fast mod, then repairing something broken as a result of the go fast mod making u go fast...

I may want to get a stick shift car not because it's faster, but because it's more fun to drive and it's more durable/less problematic (or thought to be).

bottom line, u can never be the fastest... if u bought your max for speed and racing.... you bought the wrong car.

MaxedOut97SE Nov 5, 2001 11:43 PM

I'm gonna get a Y pipe eventually and then I will be done with mods. All cars do are depreciate, you're losing money in the long run.

mykizism Nov 6, 2001 01:11 AM

Just put a GTR badge on ur car and pretend ur driving a Skyline R32

17inch blitz wheels an greddy cat back an intake,as far as

on doing multi-media since I couldnt do it in my last car
a 98 prelude.I consider my maxima a fast luxury car I bought
an auto because I want to change cds,eat taco bell,an sit
like a gansta rice boy an the same time,I think maxime

The sad fact of life is that there will always be another car that can smoke even an SC'ed Max. I'm not looking forward to the day that it happens...

Because it's cheaper than getting another, new car...and modding your car changes it and gives some variety.

carnal_c30 Nov 6, 2001 11:14 AM

why dont we just all drive civics with stock 13" steel wheels with caps?
I mod my car cuz i want people to be like dayum from the outside, dayum from the inside, dayum on the freeway, dayum on the twisties... i wana say dayum along with em
and when its all said and done, I love having a pimp ride

solfide Nov 6, 2001 11:31 AM

I'll Buy It

Hey, If you're selling off your mods. I'd be interested in buying them

the maxima in my opinion is an easy car to drive consistently. the best i could muster out of my dad's WRX is a 14.6. my times varied over a full second because of the heatsoak the intercooler goes through. also, the WRX is very difficult to launch hard. you have to hold the RPMs to 5,000 and drop allow slippage of the clutch otherwise you bog in a major way from the AWD. my neighbor could only get a 13.8 the night i saw him run his LS1 powered transam. other than that he was in the low 14's which is where my max is. now, if i can only get 13's from my gxe...hmm :goofy:

carnal_c30 Nov 6, 2001 12:13 PM

hmmm gimme 3000 bucks and a Z28 and i'll make it into a 12 second car easy :)
:) also i mod my car cuz gurlz like it! haha get plenty of those!

MaineI30 Nov 6, 2001 02:21 PM

yes

i know what you all mean, i love my car but i always find complaints.

i think that's inevitable

Craig Mack Nov 14, 2001 08:52 PM

I think we all at times get caught up in the Speed thing. I know it can become a heated debate with me and my friends. All I start to think about is how can I get faster and beat him, or take her. It's like a big rush. Then the next day I'm like "who the hell cares, I have a nice fast car, i'm not gonna race so who cares." I go back and forth. It's hell. :p

If you bought a Maxima for pure speed, you bought the wrong car. If you bought a CL Type-S for pure speed, you bought the wrong car. The list can go on, and on, and on...If you want pure speed, buy a Camaro SS. My friends, the Maxima has things that a Camaro (or any domestic sports car for that matter) will never have. Reliability, quality, ROOM, ect.

And it's all relitive. That's why they divide everything up into classes. You can't have the fastest car, that just isn't fair. A car like the Camaro SS or Mustang Bullit are in totally different catogories. You all should be happy with your Maxima. It's one of the Fastest cars ever made in it's class. And it has been for like 7 years counting.

Well i'm done here. I hope all yall appriciate your cars, becuase I know ALOT of people who WISH they had a car as nice as the Maxima.
