Advice on suspension

I'm most likely going for H&R's + Illuminas. I've gone through a couple of suspension setups but I'm still confused about some parts to the topic such as...

1. Strut Mounts - What is its purpose and is it worth buying new ones when doing suspension work.

2. Strut Bearings - I have no clue what this is. Can someone please elaborate?

3. Dust Boots - These are the only addition I buy besides springs & struts. However, it seems that cracking of dust boots is inevitable. Is there a way to somehow "prep" the boots to make it last much longer than they usually do?

4. Is there anything else I'm missing in terms of basic suspension work?

I appreciate it fellas.

Strut bearings start to ooze out if cheaply made (6th gen) or with high mileage.

It's under the mount and rotates with the strut when turning...making it smoother/easier

...wrong section though...

It's not really an advanced question.

I think this qualifies for the "more basic than basic suspension" section though...

Ditch the Tokicos and go with Konis. I deal in both HR and Koni and several other suspensions. Tokicos are garbage, always blowin prematurely
