You're gonna want to de-badge trunk.
Just de-badged the 5.5 gen. Though the burger has to pins, so I had to put it back on else I would have 2 holes left. :(
Still looks way better with out the maxima and gle badge. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...6/IMG_0098.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...6/IMG_0099.jpg |
:gotme:
and? |
It does look good. I like when people doesn't know what kind of car it is. A lot of people think its an altima. That used to be an insult but the new altimas are hot. I left the hamburger on my 4th gen, it looks good.
|
i like having mine de-badged makes the car look MORE sexythen what it is.
|
debadged 4th gen > debadged 5th gen
doesnt look right for me with the debadged 5th gen. |
I think the 5th gen looks more natural without badges on the back IMO.
|
did the same to my 5.5gen.. love the look.. to the OP.. lose the 02-03 se tales and pick up some black 00-01 se black tails = would make the rear look even nicer

Already in the works. :) The stock tails are a tad to bling for me. S |

|

lol.. just messin with u dude.. i had to think for a second what the hamburger was though... |
I never understood why a car manufacturer would go through the trouble of designing and drilling holes in a perfectly sound trunk lid etc for the sake of an emblem. Nothing wrong with glueing it on IMO.
I was able to debadge most of my emblems on my Supra, but not the front bumper for this very same reason. Debadging FTW. |

I think you missed my point.....;)
If car manufactures just glued them on there easy to remove and there goes there free advertisement. Most people will not spend the money on bodywork if it's needed to remove an emblem so the company gets free advertisement. |

I got you. I'm not sure if this is the reasoning or not but it's the only logical one I can think of.

I think the mfrs have to cater to the average person who has little interest in cars other than they need one to get around in. Folks who can hardly tell what make a model belongs to even with the badges.

I love the look of a debadged car.
I would have definatley done it if I wouldn't have gotten an AE. |
On my 4th gen. I only took off the burger and left the "Maxima". On the 5.5 gen, everything is de-badged except for the rear burger. I think they both look sexy to be honest. :D
|
Once you install the 00-01 black tails it will look very clean....
|
"You're gonna want to de-badge trunk."
Yes! You are right. Because you did it, I now want to. :rotz: I think to answer The Wizy's and maximase86's question about why a manufacturer would add holes (particularly when previous generations did not)... all I can think of is: Nissan/Honda/Toyota, etc. wants it to stay on forever and 1.) Maybe pegs and tape hold better than tape alone? 2.) If the emblem does come off for any reason (prior owner, accident, etc.), one can put on a new emblem in the perfect spot. 3.) It prevents "moders" like us from shaving their trunks!!!! |
the 4th gen doesnt look too bad debadged
|
I just debadged mine yesterday, actually. I need to clean everything up real well and then I'm getting some pics up and I'll make me a nice sig ;)
|
Yea I like the de-badged look myself: Need to get some 00-01 SE tails though...
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/IMG_0005.jpg To me the badging made the rear end more disportionate than it already is. Now I gotta get my wheels and springs on it. |
When did the term become "de-badge" anyway? For the entire 7 years I've been on here I always thought it was referred to as shaving your emblems.
|
Basically they synonyoms. THey mean the same. de-badge is just easier to say than de- emblem. Wouldn't you say?
|
anyone wanna slang me their 5th gen black maxima emblem, mine broke......
|
Mine wasn't black. And it's long gone.
|
What the ghey is up with the thread title?
5th gen looks ok without the badges though, but I still stand by my opinion that the fut bugly 4th gen rear looks even worse without M A X I M A |
It used to be called de-chroming back when we did it to those VW bugs several decades ago.
(oh yeah, Kevin, the exhaust system is working great! For almost 200K miles, I feel like I'm driving a new car.) |
A question and a Comment...
i'm still a bit of a noob... what the F--- is a badge burger? and i thought of debadging my SE, but i have a college alumni Badge on there that i just couldn't part with. |

I actually really like the big "M_A_X_I_M_A" badge on the 4th gen. It's bold and in your face. A 5th gen, though, I might consider debadging. I was bummed the 6th gen didn't do a big "MAXIMA" across the trunk, I think it looks nice! IMO the license plate looks nicer in the bumper than on the trunk.

I do agree with you very much on the license plate. It should be in the bumper. There is nothing like a clean trunk. :yup: |
See, I associate the red plastic piece with the logo running across the back as early-mid 90s (i.e. 3rd gen)
I think the 4th gen badging looks nice... what I don't like is the gigantic nissan burgers, those can look goofy. |
