Nissan's New Sports Car
You know, I thought Nissan was batty :rolling_e for trimming down the New Maximas into a sports car styled body when they had the 300 line of cars in production. But there is a method to their madness. I heard on cable that in the near future, Nissan will stop production of the 300 line, make the Maxima their sports car and Altima their new flagship.
Any thoughts on this guys? |
Ill let KCMaxx answer this one

I hope they don't do that. I didn't agree with the trim down of the 09 Max too much, although i think it's still very sexy. I think Nissan hit the nail on the dead with the Maxima.. Sylish, powerful and very comfortable. Why would you change that?

Now I dont agree with the changing it to a sports car that would be dumb.....oh and the Altima basically already is the flagship. |
THat doesn't make sense...
It would be hard to re-brand the Maxima as a straight sports car.. too many "Isn't that a family car...?" explainations to try and sell it. Especially when the Z's are just sick enough by themselves. =-) I like my flagship ;-) |
I wouldn't expect to see that, considering that they just redesigned the Z car. They're not going to cut a car they just re-designed a few months ago.
I don't see how you equate the 7th gen with the Z. It looks miles better than the older Maximas, but at the end of the day, it's still a full size sedan. |

If Nissan went to an rwd platform it would have a larger appeal. Look at the 5-series, 4-dr sedan with guts. I would buy a full size rwd sedan over a coupe. |

I heard there going to make a small rwd coupe "just like the 240" and it's going to be cheaper then the 370z. Toyota/Subaru are working on one too.

Altimas as a Flagship?
:( Oh! My Bad. I fail to mention that they are also cutting the Sentras too. But no stuff, they are suppose to be cutting the Z line because they aren't selling the way they use to. My fiance' had a 2+2 280 Z, the current 300 line don't come close to that, so cutting it seems feasible to me. I.M.H.O.
And as for the Altimas being a 'flagship' ... ? I'll agree that they are the right size to take over that slot. However, I had a 06 Altima 2.5 S before I got my 05 Maxima. And a flagship ... it ain't. :goofy: It didn't begin to touch the car I have now. To me, they would have to keep producing the current type of Maxima (2004-2008), but slap an 'Altima' sign on it in order to bring it up to current flagship standards. |
