How do I tell what alternator my car needs?

I finally saved up some money to get a new alt.

I realize that (according to the websites where I'm looking to buy from) there are two possible alternators for my 01.

"Bosch lists two possible alternators for this application. If the two pins for the wire plug are arranged in a "--" formation (most 00-01 models), use Bosch AL 2389 X, Denso 210-3105, or Hitachi 23100-2Y900R. If the two pins are arranged in an "=" formation (a few '01 models) use Bosch AL 2374 X or Denso 210-3137."

Do I have to actually unplug the alt harness or can I tell by looking at it?

I made a sketch in the corner that's a little easier to see.

Thanks-

Hmm, I've looked at a couple sites and I'm only seeing one part number.

AutoZone
-Duralast 12059 ($100-reman.)

Advance Auto Parts
-Worldwide 12245 ($183)

O'Reilly's
-Ultima 13091 ($200)

Ahh, I just saw the Bosch you were talking about. I would think the "few 01's" they are talking about would be the cold weather package. Not for sure though. I would think you would have to unplug the harness and ahve a look.

I'm seconding cold weather package, but to be sure I'd unplug the alternator and have a look at the harness.

Better that than buying the wrong one, IMO!
