What's the diff between a 2k max and a 2k2 max?
 

You guys seem to be really envious of anyone who gets a 2k2. Other than the fact that you can get them in 6spd, is there any difference from any lower model? I'm gonna get a 2k max (auto - it sucks, but I'm payin $5k). Is there any real diffence between the new 2k2 and the 2k max other than their age?

.5 liters, 30hp and about 25 ftlbs torque.

and a 6-spd trans is all that really matters

2k = 3.0 liters 2k2 = 3.5 liters
2k = 222 HP 2k2 = 255 HP
2k = 5 speed manual 2k2 = 6 speed manual

those are the 3 biggies i think. oh yeah...the torque too.

Correct me if I am wrong, as I don't know much about the 2k1 and 2k.
Differences include:

- HID
- memory seats
- clear tails, love it or hate it
- 17" SE wheels standard
- different seats
- dimming mirror
- trip computer

The following I think are already on the pre 2002's.

- 6 CDs
- steering wheel controls

Not really. My 3rd gen Maxima is still better.....and it's 7 years old now.

I would hope (and it's been rumored) that the 2k2 is assmebled better. If I were you, I would carefully kick the tires on each model. Maybe I'll be wrong about the 2k2 and it has been better paid attention to quality-wise than the 2k or 2k1 models. The 2k1 model I drove for a week as a rental left me unimpressed.

Conclusion: Drive both and see for yourself.

My 2K1 has 17" wheels, dimming mirror, 6 CD changer(trunk mounted), and steering wheel radio controls.

apparently we've neglected other differences:


00-01:
GXE: ugly hubcaps, red tails
GLE: rims that look like the GXE caps, red tails
SE: 5 or 6 spoked wheels, black/red tails

02:
all 3 models: different headlights and clear tails....different rims on all 3....and navigation system optional...but its the headlights/front fascia that will immediately signify the difference

Uhmmm.. how the hell are you gettin a 2k for 5k? Salvage title, with the body still totaled? Those should run you like $15k right?
