Why doesn't my head light turn on all the way

I have Polarg 9004 bulbs and I just put in the wire harness. It was fine for a few days and then for some reason the passenger headlight only turns on half the way. It's like it's only getting half of the power. I changed bulb but the new bulb still acts the same way. Does anyone have any idea what the problem would be? Is it the harness?

turns on half way? explain that do you mean you are only getting low beams and no high beams?

It's like it's only half the power. It turns on, but it's not bright at all. The other light is just fine, I just can't figure it out. It doesn't respond to high or low beams, it just stays really weak!

Your harness probably burned out. That kept happening to mine.

You got a bad connection someplace. Perhaps the ground wire is off?

The ground wire for the harness??? The housing hasn't melted at all, but still there is nothing that I can think of.

I am 100% SURE that you have a poor ground on the passengers side. I had the exact same problem. What you need to do is clean off the ground wire and the place you attach it to. If this does not work then ground the wire somewhere else. The ground wires are critical to headlight performance.

Why would the lights work for a little while and then stop performing?

Do you have the wire harness? I DID put my ground in a crappy place on the passenger side, I am praying that is the problem. Thank you so much for the imput, I will go try to find another place right now.

the ground wire must be touching or the light will not turn on at all. If you have a loose, bad, or dirty connection then it will be dull. I do have the same harness and I had the exact same problem... I am 100% sure this will fix it unless there is something wrong with your bulb or the harness itself. let us know if this fixed your problem.

Bad ground. Find an existing ground bolt.

Hey, 1max2nv, have you seen this thread ?

Oh my.... :bawling: My max is not Pebble Beige or Sunlit sand  Back in 1999 when I was looking for my maxima, I wanted a 5 speed. Only found one in the area, it was a Sunlit sand with tan interior. Test drove it and everying but I can't stand having a beige car. Passed on it and settled for an auto "STERLING MIST" with charcoal leather interior.

I fixed the connection and it works just fine now. There was to much paint touching and that was why the ground wasn't working very well. You were right on with your diagnosis, thanks again.
