My guess is that because the cars changed, so did the people buying them. Can't really mod one with a CVT like you could the ones with the manual.

Also the dude that did the banner bought an Infiniti last I remember and moved on.....plus the 7th looks better so why put the 8th IMO.

ooh, yes. The amazing nisformance swap. If they start selling a kit to make things easier for others, I wonder how many people will do the swap on 7th and 8th gens. That may open those gens up to a whole lot of options.

I much prefer the look of the 8th to the 7th (Especially in person)... But maybe the main car on the banner should be the best looking one my opinion, the 3rd gen.

Forums in the early 2000's were a place to socialize. FB Tiwtter, instagram, snapchat all provide the stimuli for most people's online chatting needs. Forums are really just for technical discussions. And the 8th is so new, people still have warrantees, they're not interested in voiding that with mods until after the life runs out of the coverage.

At least that's my take on it.

This

Right now only thing you see in forums, is people who shows up with problems, and people whining about this and that

you want to see a 8th gen in the banner...someone make a banner. last banner we had it didn't have the 8th gen.

not sure there's enough traffic now to get someone to help us make a new banner.

I will say that as for progress updates and developments with Maximas, Instagram and Facebook is where it's at. I know I miss out on a lot alone because I don't use facebook. Friends always ask me if I had seen the stuff there and I'm just clueless.

In the short time I've been here though, it's fair to say it was a whole lot busier here when I joined.

A lot of us grew up and got more responsibilities which took us away from hanging out on the site. I know for myself, I got married, had a child, relocated to NC from MA, found out my wife was cheating and got divorced all in the time I've been around here.

Life became more of a priority than hanging out here even though I had a lot of laughs with the guys back in the day.

Alot of us also moved on to different cars and so we went to those forums as well. I like to peek in here and there because those were the good years. Still in the back of my mind to get another 4th gen and turbo it, but I'm enjoying awd goodness right now so...lol.

I think the 5th Gen section is still much alive. It has retained a crop and corps of dedicated and experienced members who have kept up the flame. The 6th Gen section is hardly breathing.

Miss the org being active. It was fun back in the day, even with the flaming. I still hang around and help where i can with the 5th gen section questions. The whole FB, IG etc has so much childish drama.

I've seen this on pretty much every car, boat, or motorcycle forum I subscribe to...the dwindling activity. Sounds like this forum has seen better days, but even so it is nice there is place for people to still come to.
Blame FB perhaps. I don't 'do' FB nor Twitter nor any others like that, so forums are the place for me.
So many forums are now corporate owned, Internet Brands especially. You even think about crossing them and mods will ban you...I think they have to agree to that, lol! Throw in that everyone is having to be so politically correct, watch what you say, don't swear, don't make anyone uncomfortable and well, you have what you have.

It was a place where we did get info on a lot of mods but we used to bug the hell out on everything around here. I think when I started on this forum, that generation started the whole "meme" thing and we had a time with it. The smiley aka emoji thing too.

it's not AS bad with the ruling. we always say to keep the convo here PG and be civilized (don't flame and etc) and nothing bad will happen.

even if it's corporate i'm still here. yeah maybe most have moved on..but i guess i'm the super OG that's been here since it all started and still continue to be here to keep this going. only unfortunate thing is that i don't get too much support from IB. we had good team members to work with in the past but that kinda died off a little so if i need something that's out of my reach (permission) they are not really responding back.

trust me...i've been trying to get someone to help me change the banner for months. no response.

the world is evolving fast... this place still has a lot of good knowledgeable people, and info, and it can provide tons of technical help , almost beyond some average shops and dealerships. it's sad that its slowed down, but Therese enough people here still to keep a structure intact. (at least in legacy og generations)

i think youtube is a big killer to more traffic here, when comparing 2007 to 2017 , you can youtube almost anything now, and video is 100x mroe helpful w mechanical procedures than typed words, regardless of the crappy guys dealing w the camera, you can almost mute them and get the answer you need from the videos.

and man the newest gen is not helping anything, those fenders are so damn bulky its gross.

Seems like Nissan moved from the sports sedan to a full size near-lux car, killing this scene as well. I wanna say since the 5th and 6th gens lost the bulk of their value, some people found better platforms.

Like Prophecy said, fb and youtube ruined forums a bit. On the fb groups I belong to for other cars, it's just the most recent newbie questions and then they get lost. Can't really search for proper info easily.

I'm assuming the MOTM contest and Maxus events are done for?

Hope all the OGs are doing well.

I am the original owner of a 1998 5-spd SE. The forum was something else prior to 2000, and yes this place was happening. Maybe the forum has a lot to do with what's happened to the car itself. I just spent a week with an '18 SL. No offense but that car is a piece of junk.....they built the 4th gen way better imho...

p.s. major props to those who are still driving their 3rd and 4th and 5th gens being in perfect shape....mine really went downhill starting around 2015...(hint we have emissions testing)

I think we need to track approximately how long it has been since the debut of the 8th gen, I believe its debut was in November 2016. So 16 months of an old banner? This is because a corporation owns this site and nobody will answer anyone from this forum? Why don't they just shut it down then if they don't give a ****?
