ProPILOT in a Maxima--when?
You are all dropping the ball--search engine tells me this is the first thread ever on the forums about ProPILOT?!
Anyway, ProPILOT assist is now in production Nissans including the Leaf, Rogue, and they are releasing short to at least one Infiniti model. I think that's it for now.
ProPILOT is a jacked up adaptive cruise control, capable of managing speed all the way from bumper to bumper traffic up to full highway. It can also self-steer for limited periods but, like a few other competitors now, requires you to be touching the wheel (so if you aren't for a few seconds it will turn off).
Reviews for this are pretty solid.
Promises are cheap but if this were currently in a Pathfinder I would be heavily inclined to dump my current minivan for it, as I think it would make long distance trips massively less bothersome with the family. I also imagine it will make its way to the maxima, but when?
Here is what it does:
Here is it if you don't hold the wheel for a while:

2019 maxima redesign. No dropping of any ball , I have no interest.
These new cars will not be fixable nor worth it to do so,after they get 5-10 years on them.
I keep cars a LONG time .spent about $1500 on current max, total cost of ownership. Have had it about 11 years. That includes everything except ,fuel.

Turns out Nissan is putting this into the 2019 Altima. Perhaps also in the 2019 maxima, though I see no confirmation of it.
Adaptive cruise control with the ability to steer and work down to bumper to bumper traffic is the path all car manufacturers are on now as we work up to increasing autonomy. The idea that it "won't be fixable" is not terribly convincing. Cars have been given more tech all the time and reliability of automobiles is the best it has ever been. These systems are all solid state, so will not tend toward failure anyway compared to the systems with moving parts.

New maxima will be a huge change either 2019 or 2020 model and it will have propilot .
And it is a fact cars are becoming less reliable. Since 2011 recalls have been going up and up....
